I spend hours searching for rellies and keep getting the answer nothing matching your search!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! What do you do to keep sane? Thanks all for your help and support. Its great to know I'm not the only one getting frustrated. Will take all your advice. Sometimes its harder being in Perth,Western Australia to do the research on family in UK. The weather is much better though, sun sun and more sun!

Hi Susan when I get stuck I go on another branch. But I must say I would not of got as far back if it hadn't been for people on this site, some people go out of their way to look for you, they explain how they have got their results, it has been most helpful. Up till a few weeks ago I knew hardly anything about my fathers side, I sent away for my gt grandfathers birth certificate, put a few questions on here about the name of Ringrose from Countesthorpe, I got so much help, that I am now going over there next week to try and trace where they all lived etc. Just put a few questions out on these boards, you never know what will turn up, all the best don't give up. Who said anything about being sane? Like Lesley I had been searching for a couple of years for two different people. It was only when I put out a help message to the lovely people on here that I was pointed in the right direction. One line stopped immediately because there were no children but the other line came up trumps and we are now in regular contact with some 'new' cousins in America. They kindly filled us in on their side of the tree and we have about 50 names and dates to enter. Whatever else you do, don't give up - keep going.

Susan, make sure you've got the correct names!! not as daft as it sounds, For years my sister and I plus some of our cousins had thought our paternal grandmothers maiden surname was Mitchell, when I finally thought to get my fathers full birth certificate, only had a small one before that, I found her name had been Jobes!!!. That of course led me to wonder why an uncle was named Joseph Mitchell for Christian names.. Found out my grandfather's sister had married someone named Joseph Mitchell and they had emigrated to the USA back in the mid 1880's!! That lead me to finding another of grandfathers siblings decendants in the US as well. Don't give up and when you do use search engines put as little info in as possible to start with, I find sometimes too much is not always a good thing.

Susan - I too had been searching and searching on one particular line. I have left messages on all sorts of boards and sites but nothing came of them. Someone on this site suggested I contact the cemetery in the area where I thought they were and only today I've had an email back saying that they are there including dates of death. Have now found ref on 1837 and sent for certs, hopefully that will get me going again on a line I thought I would never crack. Don't give up - as someone else said on here - put them on the back burner for a couple of weeks.

Keep on looking because one day you will turn around a corner and you shall bump into anancestor. I have only recently found records of my father who I had not seen since 1948.He had been registered under the name Honeybell instead of Honeybill.through this wonderful sight I have now found my fathers family also my grandmothers family.Do not give up because you find one name then you have to keep on going to find others. Poor Heather. So despondent. Try asking again. I have had so much help it is unbelievable. People do do things out of the kindness of their hearts - and they spend their own money doing searchs without asking recompence. If I am able, I will assist because that is what this site is about, and hopefully, I can in kind repay the assistance that has been given to me so readily. Badger Bill

Hi Susan, If you live near an LDS family History centre go there and see what is available on film for you to search. Internet genealogy is very limited. There is much more available than you can find on line. Join the Family History Societies of the counties where you are searching. Many FHS produce indexes etc which will be very helpful to you. Never give up - they usually turn up eventually and give you more headaches as you search for their origins. Gwynne
