I want to know difference between Audette and Aude

Susan, I read your earlier message. There probabably is'nt any difference in the way these names were spelt. Most people could'nt spell their names years ago and they had to rely on other people to spell their name for them. Perhaps your Grandfather was proud that he and his children could spell. Or maybe he just liked to spell his name that way, it does look a little grander than the other version. Or maybe perhaps there was some sort of feud between him and other members of his family and he chose to spell the name that way to seperate himself from them. There could be all sorts of reasons, it may take a while to find out, let us know if you do. Jane
