Nancy I just found out both my nan and my grandad were married before. My nan had 3 children and then her husband died. My grandad had 2 children and the 3rd was stillborn. The amazing thing was that my nan was there at the birth of the stillborn child helping. They only called the doctor in if there were problems. While the doctor was being sent for my grandads wife was so upset she swallowed some poison and killed herself. My grandad and my nan got together a few years later and married, then went on to have 13 children. My grandads first 2 children were brought up by their grandparents while my grandad worked. He supported them but the grandparents wouldn't let them go to live with him . He later found out that they even made the children,a girl and a boy use their surname. He was not happy about that. Hi Nancy do you have a name or place/area and year to go with the surname? If so I can look for you, or you can buy credits for the 1837online website and look the info up for yourself. the 1837online website holds all registered births, marriages and deaths. Michele
