I don't know of any strange deaths, but the majority of deaths on my mum's side occurred in March or late February. I think that's kind of spooky.

My grandmother often told my mum of her older brother dying after eating Mussels out of season, but we dismissed it as she often got facts wrong.........including her date of birth that was out by three years ! I got the death certificate of said brother last week and he died of Typhoid Fever......result of eating contaminated seafood.

Lisa It's funny you should say that. I've just been adding to my family tree a list of ancestors given to me by my new found American cousin, the vast majority of whom died in March. Wierd! Jeanette

This from my husband's side of the family.....a father and a son both died from drowning in the Clyde Canal, presumably a work accident as the exact times and dates of drowning are recorded. The weird thing is that the accidents took place exactly six months apart from each other. The father and son both had the same names and were both married to ladies with the exact same first names. The father of a friend wrote a short book of his life C1900-1980 and it records a 15 year old youth found dead on the road having apparently fallen off his horse and cart and having then been run over by it.

Jeanette, someone in Ontario told me (don't know if I believe it) that people used to try and hang on through the winter, so they could be buried when they died. According to this person, proper burials could be held up for weeks due to severe weather conditions.

My great grandfather was climbing a tree with a shotgun on his back getting higher to shoot at some birds, but a branch caught the trigger and shot him dead. Also his son was working in the mines, underneath a flap door where large boulders fall from, but unfortunately the flap malfunctioned and he was underneath, crushed to death. His son, my father was crushed by a road grader when he worked for the council, crushed his legs but still alive. Thank goodness I wasnt born a male!
