No Horkins in my line but in all of the Horkin's in 1880 US census, taken on June 5, there is one listed from England; Joseph A. Horkins, age 37, Occupation: wagon maker, born in England, parents both from England, living in Looking-Glass Village, Douglas County, Oregon. He was listed in the household as a boarder. ------------------------------------------------------------------- 1920 Census has only Horkin with a birth place of England: John Horkin, age 57, born in England. Living at 1514 Hamilton Street, in New Castle, Lawrence County, Pennsylvania. His year of entry into the US is marked with a "?" John was a laborer in a cannery. Others in the household: Horkin, Anna, wife, age 49 - Born in Pennsylvania (PA). Father born in England, mother born in Ohio, USA. Children were all born in PA Horkin, Edith - Daughter, age 8 Ellis, Fred - Stepson, age 15 Ellis, Biill - Stepson, age 11 - Working as a laborer in a car factory (I double checked it does say the 11 yr old is working!) Ellis, John 0 Stepson, age 21 - Laborer working for the reailroad. Of all the Horkins listed online in US census, these two were the only ones listed as being from England. The others were born in the States, with a handful from Ireland. Hope that helps! Judy

You might want to check for hawkins too. There are quite a lot of them on this site.
