Hi Trish. Although I am a dinki di Aussie (with papers to prove it) I spent the first 40 years of my life in dear old England. My English descent goes back well over 400 years that I know of and the Englishman in me still causes a lump in the throat when I see what certain people are trying to do to the "old" country. Having said all that I still like to see the Aussies beat the Poms at cricket and, in future, at rugby!!! Peter

My - what did I start? lol I must admit I never even thought when I put English in the title, because THAT'S WHAT I AM! No offence to others but I am not Scottish, Welsh, Irish or whatever - just good old English and have managed to have English blood in me for the last 400 years.

For the last forty years or so as soon as I open my mouth people say Oh!! your a bloody Pom. Tom the Pom from Shields

You wonderful ENGLISH people. I too wrote English on the Census form,and the powers that be can take a running leap. Far too much political correctness out there. I wrote the following when I was about 10 or 11 years old:- England is my country The country of my birth The country I would die for The only place on earth For one who wants no travel No wanderlust is mine For the green fields And the song of the birds Is just like heady wine To a home-bird and my kind. To Sue and Janet, If you know Wellingborough is there still a butchers shop owned by any Cross'. I had a Great Uncle Joseph in the early 1900's, a butcher, living over the shop. He had a red haired brother Frederick Boddington Cross. My uncle was red haired and named after him. A bit of Ancient Britian's in us I believe. Rosemary.

Er, yep! Born and raised in the north east, but have lived in Hertfordshire and Sussex for a time. Have Scottish ancestry on both sides of my (maternal) grandparents.

Well I dont care about all the beaurocrats and red tape who say we are british,,,they can say what the hell they like. I AM ENGLISH AND PROUD OF IT,,!!!!!!!!!!!!!
