I have 11 Strouvelles and they are the only ones on the site and there are only three on the last years electoral register in u.k.and I know 2 of those. KIM

My surname through marriage is LANZILOTTO there is only one other in England and thats my sister in law!!! Are there any further afield?

I have the only Honeybill on the site,can only go back to 1790 with the same family can't find anymore.I think the name must have changed perhaps from Honeyball?

I have the unique name of Stoaling in my tree. The name is only in there by marriage but decided to check it out further due to its uniqueness, and now have 20 of them in my tree. The name hails from a family in Somerset.

I have the only De Jongh. There are three Sarge's -- all mine. I also have Vaus, of which there are 21 (I've got 5 of them) and just found out today that I've linked that name with another GC member!

I have one of the most uncommon together with probably the most common - my mother was a 'MISY' - any info appreciated! And my father is a 'WILLIAMS' - totally baffled on that side too! I appear to have the only Cohnsterns on GC at the moment. There is someone else with one in their tree, and that duplicates one in mine.

For months and months I had the only TIVERS on GC, 21 of them. Now there is one other, and she was my Grandfather's aunt! I do have the only HONNACOTT though the spelling is a little suspect. (Probably HONEYCOTT or HUNNACOTT) Sue

I have 2 unique to GC - one because it is my maiden name and Greek Cypriot, so doesn't really count. The other is STEGGELL - of which there are only about half a dozen on current UK electoral register but loads in the US. This was mainly due to an ancestor emigrating, becoming a Mormon and having 2 concurrent wives and therefore lots of descendants.

Janet, my Morrells were mainly Somerset but have been told that there are relatives 'up north somewhere'.

There are two Bumbs (German) on GC and they both belong to me...but then who else would dare own up to having that name in their family! The name was changed to Boom which is still uncommon and 13 out of the 72 on the site are in my tree. My maiden name was Sturt so I think all my names are pretty unique! Aileenx

There are 38 WILKE'S on G:C: 23 of which belong to my tree The story goes that the original spelling was WILKEY and a a member of the MacGregor Clan. My ancestor was kicked out of the clan and forbidden to use the name. He immigrated to South African and changed his name to WILKE with an umlaut on the letter e (´) to remind the family that it was once spelt with the letter (y). He must have been telling "tall stories" as I have discovered that WILKE/WILKIE/WILKEY has no Highland connection but is in fact a Lowlands name. I am beginning to doubt that he was Scottish if it was not for the fact that red heads keep popping up in the family. Lindy :-(

Currently tracing a Simone and a Wensley-Walker, neither of which I can find! Sometimes the ones you think are going to be easy turn out to be the hardest! Daren't put them into my tree yet until I am certain that they are mine, might cause all sorts or mayhem!

The term "unique" in your details on GC means the number of surnames in your tree. I have a truly unique one in my tree, "Boten". This was my wife's maternal gggrandmother. According to the 1881 census there was only one family in the whole UK with that surname and they lived in Kent. However, ggg was born in Essex and what looks like her father died in Essex, so I recon they were out on census night.
