There are 14 HACKART'S on G.C. and all 14 are in my tree. My ancestor is supposed to have been one of the 1820 Settlers Irish Group that settled in the Albany District, Grahamstown. Eastern Cape. South Africa. I have found no records or passenger list for any Hackart in the first half of the 19th century. Lindy :-(

Seems I have the only Warning on GC. Try searching for that along with my other names of Flower, Morrell (always get items on Moreton Morrell), Hacker, Mason, Butler and Tapping!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I have a note that says I have 73 names in my tree, 17 of which are unique. The least number on the site for any of these names is 23 - Thornbury - for which I have only have 1 so not sure how they work out unique!! Jacky

theres four Tanter on Gc and all are mine, but the sad bit is it's not a name i'm actually searching as its an aunts married name :-(( There is also 23 Coulbys and 15 are mine!!! two Hazzell and one is mine, and only one Mybrook and thats mine on the other side of the coin there is 42,614 Taylors on GC and i have only one!!!! The term "unique" in your details on GC means the number of surnames in your tree. I have a truly unique one in my tree, "Boten". This was my wife's maternal gggrandmother. According to the 1881 census there was only one family in the whole UK with that surname and they lived in Kent. However, ggg was born in Essex and what looks like her father died in Essex, so I recon they were out on census night.

Currently tracing a Simone and a Wensley-Walker, neither of which I can find! Sometimes the ones you think are going to be easy turn out to be the hardest! Daren't put them into my tree yet until I am certain that they are mine, might cause all sorts or mayhem!

There are 38 WILKE'S on G:C: 23 of which belong to my tree The story goes that the original spelling was WILKEY and a a member of the MacGregor Clan. My ancestor was kicked out of the clan and forbidden to use the name. He immigrated to South African and changed his name to WILKE with an umlaut on the letter e (´) to remind the family that it was once spelt with the letter (y). He must have been telling "tall stories" as I have discovered that WILKE/WILKIE/WILKEY has no Highland connection but is in fact a Lowlands name. I am beginning to doubt that he was Scottish if it was not for the fact that red heads keep popping up in the family. Lindy :-(

There are two Bumbs (German) on GC and they both belong to me...but then who else would dare own up to having that name in their family! The name was changed to Boom which is still uncommon and 13 out of the 72 on the site are in my tree. My maiden name was Sturt so I think all my names are pretty unique! Aileenx

Janet, my Morrells were mainly Somerset but have been told that there are relatives 'up north somewhere'.

I have 2 unique to GC - one because it is my maiden name and Greek Cypriot, so doesn't really count. The other is STEGGELL - of which there are only about half a dozen on current UK electoral register but loads in the US. This was mainly due to an ancestor emigrating, becoming a Mormon and having 2 concurrent wives and therefore lots of descendants.

I have the only 5 Gelloways on the site..... again not a name I am searching but all part of my history I suppose!! Dee

For months and months I had the only TIVERS on GC, 21 of them. Now there is one other, and she was my Grandfather's aunt! I do have the only HONNACOTT though the spelling is a little suspect. (Probably HONEYCOTT or HUNNACOTT) Sue

I appear to have the only Cohnsterns on GC at the moment. There is someone else with one in their tree, and that duplicates one in mine.

I have one of the most uncommon together with probably the most common - my mother was a 'MISY' - any info appreciated! And my father is a 'WILLIAMS' - totally baffled on that side too! My only success is going further back to slightly more unusual but a bit more common names! Sam (via Dads computer - Martin)

I have the only De Jongh. There are three Sarge's -- all mine. I also have Vaus, of which there are 21 (I've got 5 of them) and just found out today that I've linked that name with another GC member!

I have the unique name of Stoaling in my tree. The name is only in there by marriage but decided to check it out further due to its uniqueness, and now have 20 of them in my tree. The name hails from a family in Somerset.
