Believe me the pay isn't too bad for writing a column - I wrote a search and reunte column for the Bristol Evening Post but found I spent more on phone calls and research than I earnt. I was successful until they moved me from Saturday to Tuesday with a new editor who wanted full surnames of those involved in adoption etc - I said I would not reveal the names as the people reading would know what I was writing about if they were related to the article. Now, no column because of my principles - adoption research is a very private thing and not one that 'the world' should be aware of unless the parties involved wanted their revelations to be known about.

Brian, It should pay well with the cost of the Telegraph every day!

Maybe I sometimes contribute to our local paper's letters column and have had a handful published in the Telegraph! Does it pay well? ;-))

Brian, Maybe we can encourage the Telegraph to have a regular column. You fancy being a journalist?

On page 23 of today's Daily Telegraph there is a jalf page article by Jonathan Myerson describing his efforts to trace his ancestors. It might give a little boost to the interest in geneology.
