Original copy of The War Illustrated dated 9th June 1917, contains 'official' photographs of the war and photos of some of the 'Honoured for courage'. Very interesting. Kathy

My son bought me a framed original photograph of some members of the Manchester Regiment disembarking a train in WW1 (do'nt know why Manchester as we're Lincolnshire born and bred), but he knows i love these sort of things. It makes me want to cry when i see pictures of WW1 soldiers at boot sales and so on. Why would people want to give photo's away of loved ones like that? I can understand people selling medals in times of hardship, but to get rid of photos of these brave young men is totally beyond me. If i had my way i would buy them all, but hubby has other ideas unfortunately. Jane

Leonard - Hubby recons about £100 - £150 depending on condition- course you'd need a Firearms Cert and a 'good' reason for having one these days. Sue

When I was demobbed in 1947 I handed back my short Lee-Enfield 303 with reluctance and asked what it would cost if I had "lost it". The reply from the quartermaster sergeant was "£27.17.6d plus a courts martial" Wonder what they are fetching now ?
