Everyone else ranged from 53-75!! so you see its not just for the youngsters (wasn't including myself in that comment). Hi Wendy, Doreen and Doreen's husband (you haven't introduced us to your Dad yet Wendy!) Yes you really should get a computer and the internet. My Mum got a computer just after my Dad died and now she's always 'surfing the net'! She uses it mainly for looking for holidays - she has more holidays than Judith Chalmers! She rings me up from time to time with daft questions, but as I'm not very good with computers either she usually gets a daft answer! It took me quite a while to pluck up the courage to post a message on here for the first time, but I'm so glad I did. Everyone is so friendly and helpful and have a brilliant sense of humour. So come on Doreen - what are you waiting for? Come and join us. Jeanette

Yes, Yes, Yes. It is the best thing I ever did. I am a grandma and have only had my computer for 3 years but it has opened a whole new world for me. No time for housework, ironing, reading, watching television etc. Spend most of my time on the computer when I am not 'minding my grandchildren'., with my c.d. player going full blast. Heaven. Wendy's Mum : Go for it. Jean.

Hi Everyone,Everyone has to start somewhere.Once heard of a guy who attended his first computer lesson, and was instructed to "move the mouse"and he proceeded to move it in the air not on the mousemat/ tabletop. When I first had a go on a computer I thought if I pressed the wrong key I would mess it up.Now having taught hubby the basics its a race to get on here.So come on Wendy's Mum go for it..They say you cant teach an old dog new tricks........well you can! as many have said before me, and are now pleased thay are barking up this tree Lynn

Hello Wendy and Wendy's Mum, I am so glad everyone is agreed on the idea of Wendy's Mum getting a computer. Honestly it really isn't too hard once you get over the first few times you use it. My son has given me advice but most of the time I work things out myself. I used to think I would harm it in some way if I made a mistake, then found out it's a lot harder than you think to do any damage. Hope you understand what I'm saying.. I am 76, by the way, and I hope to be able to use my computer for the rest of my life. Good luck Wendy's Mum and Best wishes to you both also Wendy's Dad From Sylvia X

Hello Wendy's mum I've been looking through some of the replies you've been getting and two of them from Andrew and Janice mention having a Laptop (now I think a Laptop is a smallish thing that if need be, you can have on your lap, not sure though) An ibook and Mac o/s were also mentioned. I'm getting scared Wendy's mum 'cos I don't know what these things are. Please someone enlighten Wendy's mum and ME PLEASE. Bob has mentioned broadband and I DO know what that is. I have got one telephone in my house, and my compooter uses that telephone line to get through to the Internet (no sorry, I don't know how it does that) and so while I'm writing this to you, I am on the Internet and so if you were to 'phone me for a chat, you wouldn't be able to get through. But if I had broadband, I would still only have one telephone line but somehow (no I don't know how this works either) I could be on the Internet, and yet should you be phoning me to have this chat (perhaps about Wendy) you would be able to get through to me with no trouble. Anyway, whatever kind of compooter you might decide on, you'll have a screen to look at, a keyboard (something like a squashed flat typewriter) and a mouse( mouse doesn't have a tail, no legs, no eyes or ears) Why do they call it a mouse??? The first thing you learn to do with the mouse is to try poking it's left eye out (if it had an eye that is) then you do the same thing with where its right eye would be, then you try seeing how quickly you can double poke its left eye out. It's all a bit of a lark really. Now I really feel as if I'm becoming a bit of an expert here so Wendy's mum, should you be in need of any further guidance, please give me a ring (welll you could try, but I can't get broadband yet, which if you remember means that if I'm on the internet reading some of your Wendy's comments, then you won't be able to get through to me, but persevere.Sometimes I switch the internet off. Honest. Big Hug from Norah
