Hi there Margaret The York cafe is down at the east end of the high street and opposite the main entrance into the Callendar Shopping Centre. It's a marvellous place that has stayed in a bit of a time warp with old fashioned service. I did a fair bit of my courting in there after school in my young days (no don't ask)! The same family have another cafe in Manor Street which runs parallel with the High Street. It has the same type of character and still has the very high, narrow dark stained booths from the 'year dot'. Don't think I should say what used to go on in them in days gone past (tongue in cheek), or SO I WAS TOLD!! I will look out for Shona Smith. TTFN and logging off now - Iyline.

Hi Everyone, thanks for the welcome. I think I will manage the madness. I used to be part of same sort of thing as this with Scottish Endurance Riding Club. It was a gas. However, retired from riding due to too many 'low flying exercises' and landing on my back not on my feet (managed that occasionally). She, the York cafe still has the best chips in town as they are about the only place that makes them from real potatos. However, their piece de resistance is their ICE CREAM. There's nothing like it except for a wee shop in Innerleithen in the borders that comes very close. Not really an ice ream fan but this is magic stuff. Certainly does nothing for the weight. TTFN ...... Iyline
