Being hit hard by the death of my grandmother in Jan this year - i decided to trace my family tree back - I've become unstuck because i can't get any further back than my g.g.grandmother on my grandmothers side - but that's by the by. I've looked at this sight every day since and added a few messages here and there but I am now becoming addicted as it's made me smile again and i have even cut down on the old faithful ciggies (what admitting I'm a smoker - whatever next) - This is more addictive than those I can tell you - I would have said drugs (hard ones I mean) but i've never taken them so I don't know. I just want to say thankyou to every one who has made me smile again and long may this site reign.

Tracey It is addictive isn't it. Why not put that side of your tree to one side for now and try another. Anything that keeps you off the ciggies can only be good. Unfortunately I can smoke whilst doing the washing, ironing, cooking a 3 course meal, sweeping up and being on here all at the same time! Regards Fag Ash Lil!

I only started last week, still waiting my info to come thro, expected this week, so I've spent my time helping others, I've solved loads and feel great about it, now I can't stop it's such a wonderful feeling when you solve the puzzles, much better than crosswords or the like. I've still got a couple of really hard ones to solve for a couple of members but i'm getting there! I'm in between jobs at the moment, I don't know how i'm going to go back after this? Geoff of the Genealogy Guild for Beginners Keep in Touch Gf.

I have just read Geoff's message, saying he only joined last week, I am new also waiting on info to come through I am only knew to this so I need as much help as I can, there are so many lovely helpful people out there like Donna, Nessa, Susan from Louth, Janet from Albany haven't heard from you since. it is rather addictive but I make sure I do all my house jobs first then come on, as otherwise the time just goes. I think this is a great site. Keep up the good work. very hot here in Perth WA today. Regards Wendy Rita

Jeanette I'm glad to know i'm not the only smoker - I thought my job was addictive. But I agree with Geoff It is hard to concentrate when you've been on these thread boards. What was life like before (BORING!!!) Wendy thanks for your message I will try to help you and I will stay in touch I promise - Maybe Geoff could help too!! Geoff you ought to make a business out of doing it make money at something you enjoy I do - i'm a trained Horticulturist now (I work at a garden centre now, it was my hobby and I wanted to learn more so I did - I'm now at college studying horticulture - great way to learn about plants, shrubs and trees and the company very kindly paid for it - think about it.

So glad this site has helped in what must have been a rotten time for you (puff, ouch, just burned my fingers on the stub.....). Yes, it is addictive but so worth while. I love helping people and it is great when another brick tumbles on your own wall - just to give you a clue where next to look. I am often reminded "there is the living as well...." but they don't understand, do they? Good luck with all your searches, Nesta

Nesta I'm not with you - Cryptic clues were never my strong point in crosswords and no the living don't understand - but the dead do! Cheers

Sorry, Tracy, I mean those around me now. They can't understand my addictiveness to finding out about my ancestors. They keep reminding me that there are the ones that are living now - trying to tell me not to live in the past. Nes

Told I was no good at crosswords Nesta - Stupid me wouldn't be able to complete one if I tried - (only joking) - I often tell my hubby not to live in the past - but that is to try and help him erase bad memories and so that he can "move on" if you know what I mean. Each to their own i say and they don't know how exciting this is - their loss eh?

Terri, Kaardiff born and bred, Roath, City Road when it was mostly houses and just one or two shops, (that's a give away to my age) then Upper Kincraig St again in Roath, now I'm Close to North Road flyover. What part were you from? And to all you lovely ladies out there who have sent me messages/e-mails of thanks, I love you all and although I'm busy with work at the moment and my own tree, I shall find some time to devote to your searches I promise, but please be patient with me. Love this site.... Gf.
