Been down this road before. I like a lot more on this site do look ups for people,and its really good when you find that certain person.Perhaps im the only one that people forget to thank,i feel quite upset about this. Mary

Sadly Mary, no, you're not the only one who goes unthanked....you're one of many! One of my pet peeves: those who post the same question on several boards, many here at GC take the time to respond, and the person never goes back to the thread to respond back....then goes on to post more inquiries! AAARRGGG! To all you unsung heroes, many thanks for your time and efforts! Judy :)

Even worse is when you send relatives, known and newly discovered, information about the family tree, and they don't even bother to acknowledge. Don't regret sending it as it's their family as much as mine, but a spark of interest would be encouraging! I always try to acknowledge emails whatever the subject, but I do have senior moments, so if I have ever slipped up and neglected to say thanks, my apologies! Di.

what about people who ask to see your tree because they think there could be a link you get all excited then when they obviously have had a look at yours cancel the contact so you dont get to look. thats happened to many times to mention. karen

Hear Hear Di One would think that new-found members of the family would be as excited as you wouldn't you, and it's so disappointing when they are not. hello Mary, sorry people dont say thank you for info you give, I asked for help and and got so excited I had a hard time typing my thanks,(one finger typing)but the thrill was great to get replys, but I must say I feel a bit apprehensive asking for more help,cos I cant seem to get any good from the freebees,I dont understand some of the gargen and have to come off as my little brain cant take it, so I for one am very greatful to you great people who know what we dont know. Irecently sent a photo out to someone as requested. Haven't heard a word. I will assume that maybe the person is away but if I don't hear in the next month I shall think twice about getting the other photos that the same person has asked for. Ann Glos

Just a quickie... us young 'uns (or relatively young 'uns lol) aren't all rude, I make a point of replying to EVERY email I get, and am always grateful for any help or advice. Paul

I feel like you, Mary. I have helped many people over the last couple of months and probably less than a third have bothered to say "Thank you". Not that is why I do it but you do wonder a) if they got the information and b) was it any help to them. I hope that I have replied to everyone that has tried to help me, which I really do appreciate, or I will have egg on my face!!! Nes

I am not often able to help people, but if and when I can, I am thrilled to be able to do it. However, as others have said, it can be very disappointing when you hear nothing back. I get so mad sometimes, I am tempted to start a blacklist of names! No thanks, no help! Just a very wicked thought...sorry! Dierdre X

Hi Margaret I'm fine, had a busy day shopping, and then gardening again. So come on, tell us what it is you want to know - you mention freebies not working for you, and not understanding the jargon. Lots of us don't. Now Colin is very knowledgeable and seems to have endless patience bless him.
