Terri herself is an act of kindness - she has brought a ray of sunshine into lives, made them believe in Santa again with her wonderful story.

Terri What's YOUR story?

There have been so many through my life that I can't put them all down. The time I ran out of petrol in France trying to catch a ferry and a man came out of his house with a gallon can. The camp site near Venice that gave us a chalet in the rain so we didn't have to pitch our tent. The lady in Florence who showed us how the bus tickets worked and then gave us some. The man in Wales who went 14 miles out of his way to give me a lift home. The friends who helped us through the trauma of losing our son. I sincerely believe that what goes round comes round and that you will get back as much as you put in. I do hope that there are a few people who will remember me (even though I was a stranger) as someone who was kind to them. Bob

Very true Maggie. Actually I could write a book about all the little acts of kindness I've experienced or seen others do every day. Gerry, you must be an absolute gem of a husband! Di.

Di, I think the problem is, in reality, acts of kindness are done all the time on a small scale - helping an elderly person off the bus, giving you back the glove you've just dropped - all are acts of kindness, but people, though realising theyare acts of kindness, don't feel theyare 'eventful' enough to put on this thread. In my local area, Brian and Denise Gerrard, who run the local 'corner store' in this part of Winchester are acts of kindness in themselves. they will take your shopping home if you can't manage it, point you in the direction of the 'best offer' and are just really nice people. If they retire, I'm moving!!!

Surely there are more kind people around than it appears from this thread. One of the kindest acts I remember was when we first arrived in Canada and had a tough time for the first few weeks, someone deposited a Christmas package on our doorstep with a gift for each of us and Christmas goodies to eat. Never did find out who the kind person was, but it sure made us feel good, and welcome to our new country. Di.

Late one evening about 10 years ago my dad collapsed in the street. All his symptoms suggested he was drunk. One young lad wasn't deterred by this and called an ambulance. It saved my dad's life. Thank you

Several years ago someone hit our parked car, pushed it down two houses and into their tree and continued on her merry way. A 17-year old followed her and finally got her to stop and turn around (she didn't realize she had hit anything). Unfortunately, she had had so much to drink that she chose to return to the accident scene driving on the wrong side of the road (and we live on an extremely busy street). Luckily, the police had arrived by that time and they safely pulled her over. If the 17-year old hadn't stopped her, she might have killed someone on her way home, which was about 20 miles away.
