Brian, We were doing TDOTA at our Leicestershire county campsite 21/22 Feb with the help of amateur radio chaps from Leicestershire (Thanks chaps it was really great), our call sign was GBOGLE - don't know if we talked to your lot. We had hordes of kids doing all sorts of communication related activities. A great time was had by all!! We had 6 year old rainbows in different parts of the UK talking to each other. We also chatted to various places in Europe. Mike, Thanks for the info about Charnwood - will keep my eyes peeled. (Our radio chaps have also done previous Charnwoods for us - hoping they will do it again!!).

hi mike,i am a radio ham and each year on thinking day the members of my radio club put on a special event station from the club premises using a special call sign.we invite the local scouts ,guides etc to visit us and we in turn contact variouse other special event groups not only in the uk but all over the world. when we do we let the scouts ,guides etc have a talk to who ever we contact and they in turn can obtain a badge. we always have a good turn out and there is always plenty of eats to keep those hungry ones happy,so mike this is our contribution to thinking day and we all enjoy it very much.

To all who have added to this thread. . . . Just to say all are back safely in civilization ( hot water on tap, comfortable beds etc,) ……lol :)) It’s so gratifying that the ideals of the Guide & Scout movements are still held in high esteem. Janet. . . . I’m so sorry to hear of your sad lost please accept my condolences. . . I’m off for that nice hot bath. . . And then I’ll pop on to see if any ones about. . . . MIKE.

Mike and everyone else, Happy Thinking Day. Normally spend it attending an early morning service and Thinking Day breakfast (porridge, bangers, beans, scrambled egg, tea, toast and marmalade - yum!!) with Leicester West Division (Hello all!!), but this year will be at a campsite (indoors, log fire!!) with Leicester East Division. As well as thinking about Guides, known and unknown, all over the world, my thoughts naturally turn to the Guiding friends I have loved and lost. Have happy memories of times spent in their company. Special message for the Guiders of the old Willow Bluffs area of Toronto - Thanks for your company at Sangam (India) last year, and at Or Cabana (Mexico) in 2000. Will be seeing you soon in Toronto!!!!! Start lighting those birthday candles - all ** of them!!!!!!!!! Had this on a card from a Trefoil friend today: Rucksacks bring us memories Even kit bags too of happy hikes and camping with happy girls in blue!!

As an ex Brownie, Guide and cub leader, I have always celebrated Thinking Day, I have always thought it special because it is also my birthday and made me feel a bit extra special but this year it is tinged with sadness as my dad died on the 15th February 2004 22nd February was also my great-grandmas birthday and an aunts birthday However a huge HAPPY DAY to all who celebrate for whatever reason Love Janet

Also known as “ Founders Day “ This is the day all past and present members of the Guide & Scout Movements Stop and take a few moments out of our busy day just to think of all our fellow Sisters Guides & Brothers Scouts through out the world. It’s also the date of joint Birthdays of the Founders. Olave St. Clair Soames. Robert S.Baden-Powell. The reason I’ve posted this early is that I’ll be away over this weekend With a party of my Scouts, putting into practise skills learnt over the dark nights through out the winter in readiness to achieve their “ Chief Scout’s Challenge” latter on this year. So I’ll just wish you all “ A Happy Thinking Day “ MIKE. Group Scout Leader. 82nd. Leicester ( Trinity Methodist ) Scout Group
