My mother never met her father...

And she did not know what he looked like. I found his WW1 Navy Record and told her that her dad was 5' 4" tall, dark hair, fair skin and had a mole on his chin - I was amazed - and - it was my first visit to Kew! (I thought all my investigations at Kew would be that easy - silly me!). I thought I would share it with you. KAty Cox

Hi Kathryn. your lucky finding those records ,my G-Father was in the army during WW1,but his record are in the one which were destroyed. As you G-Father was in the Navy I read in the Family history mag that the Fleet Air Arm Museum at Yeovil a lot of records from that period and not just AIr Arm , cotact address as follows:- Mrs Jan KEOHANE,Fleet Air Arm Museum,Box D6,RNAS Yeovilton,Nr Ilchester,somerset,BA22 8HT, Tel 01935 840565. Hello Vivien and Ken - thank you for replying. Another line of research which turned out well was when I was looking for mum's cousins - that she had never met (on her mum's side) and wrote to everyone in Devon with the surname that I was looking for (I am making a short story long - hold on) they all replied and are all related - 12 cousins (all brothers and sisters) - the surname = Crummey -there was a total of three in the phone book!!!! thanks again for your warm wishes Katy
