All in one's are great BUT if you want the best quality scanner you'd do better buying a separate one, if you want a good photo printer, then a separate printer would generally do the job better etc etc... The term jack of all trades, master of none comes to mind. But for most purposes a decent all in one will suffice.

I bought an HP Office Jet G85 a couple of years ago and wouldn't be without it. It is a copier, scanner, fax machine and printer and has been quite trouble free albeit a bit expensive on ink cartridges. It also enlarges/reduces as a stand-alone colour copier, a very handy attribute. Its good for photo-printing too. Len

I have a Lexmark X85 which is a printer/scanner/copier and often my computer does not close down unless I switch the printer off. Maybe its just me not up much on IT. Prints OK, copying not clear sometimes. Maybe separate items do function better after all. Has anyone else experience of a Lexmark X85? Kathy

Hi i bought epson cx3200 about six months ago and have found it very easy to use - when i jammed it (i forgot to open the "door" to let the printer out and something happened inside, took it to local epson dealer, dealt with it very quickly and replaced the cartridges which were still under guarantee! i couldnt use my single scanner but have been able to using the all in one heather

Hi Barry, Got my new HP PSC 1110 on Friday. It was £66 and is really very good value. It takes up very little desk space and the quality of the scans and the printing is pretty good. The scanning software is a little basic, but other that I'd say it was a bargain. Rick.

Canon all in ones are probably more robust than some other makes. Bought student daughter one, Xmas before last and it is still going strong. Also, get one with separate cartridges - the smaller and cheaper cartridges ara a bit of a nuisance as they run out more quickly but separate ones mean you do not chuck away all the yellow just because you have been printing lots of pics with large blue skies. The dpi (dot per inch) is the most important consideration if you are printing photos from a digital camera - the higher the better.

Hi Barry, I have an Epson All in one. Brilliant, one piece of equipment. No need to put computer on to do copies (pop what you want copied under scanner press one button and hey presto copies as many as you want) colour or black and white. Scans and prints brilliantly. Also easy software. Also chipped cartridges which are also brilliant no conflicts between £3 and £6 each. I haven't paid full price for ages. Sandra
