Since starting my family history I've got some of the family medals and my husband said to me that he would never have any to hand down to our children as he has diabetes and couldn't join any force because of it. BUT this week he was presented with TWO Medals for having diabetes for 50 years. One was the Elizabeth Evans HUGHES the Welsh medal and the Diabetes U.K. medal. His name was given by our doctor as he said he was so chuffed that he is one of his patients and couldn't believe that he was only 3yrs old when he started on insulin. My husband don't like fuss and when his photo appeared in the paper everyone congratulated him. The joke is now he say's he hasn't to go to war for his medals. But I said he has fought his own war and is still fighting it. Thanks for listening Jill
