An excellent site Yvonne but don't put too much info in and if you find the person you may find there is a year out compared to the 1901 census, should you need a certificate bmd give a volume and page number and you can order from the relevant registry office or the GRO Southport online both charge £7 tho if you write to the GRO they charge £11-50 for a certificate,i have had great results and it's free Christine.

Yvonne Don't forget, it's not fully transcribed yet so not all information is on there. Christine I order my certs from the GRO cos I like the old handwriting! My certs have cost me 8.50 though. I ring them and give the name, reference number, year and quarter and parents names if I know them. They must have had to do some sort of search for them to charge you 11.50. It is definitely 7.00 if you order your cert from the local register office but you just get a modern typed cert. Jeanette

Jeanette if you order on line instead of over the phone then it will only cost you £7

You are right Jeanette the £11-50 is if they do a search for you ,but if i have the GRO info i have only ever paid £7 that is for an order online . Christine.

I have had great sucess with BMD but always double check the volume and page number on 1827online as I have had one error on BMD which wasted £4.oo (GRO refuned the other £3.oo) because of a wrong number. Also found an error on 1901 census (ended up with the wrong marriage cert) so always check the image myself not the transcript!! Anyone tracing their family Hole from Blaina S>Wales certifcate going cheap!! Angie
