Do any of you good people out there know what I can do? I have an address and I want to know who lived there back in 1919. I phoned the local council for that area, but they said their records did not go back that far. Thanks Joanne.

You will probably find out from the electoral roll which could be in the local large library or in the record office for the area. Janice

Never thought of that. Do the libraries allow anyone to have a look do you know? Jo

Hi Joan ,you could try the U/K Census Collection ,the only trouble is, if you find the address, before you get the names it,s sting time if you know what i mean .Good luck anyway. Denis,

Have you tried writing to they folk who live there now, if they have their deeds to the house all the previous owners will be on there. Or maybe try the land registry?

With luck, you could find who was living at a particular address in a particular year by accessing this site - do remember that the electoral roll was not taken in the war years. http://www.familia.org.uk/libraries.html Good luck to all searching.
