Fi, this gives us all hope! One of mine (great gnashing of teeth) has refused to give up a date of birth despite the fact I know his age at every census from 1871 to 1901 and a marriage in between. I haven't tried 5 years previously, though, might give it a go!

I am delighted to tell you that Richard Woods my great grandfather's birth date has been found. What's more his parents lied about his age and this is what has given me grief. If only he knew he had been born 5 years earlier than he thought. I would like to thank everyone was has searched records of this birth for me, Tracy, Jan, Max to name just a few. It was Mike Cassell who made the discovery and I am truly thankful to him and everyone who has helped me in my search. Thank you!
