Haven't seen the new Italian Job yet so can't comment. Of course, the original should be on my ever expanding list too... Have thought of one remake I DO like though!! Errol Flynn is fab and can't be beat, but the Kevin Coster 'Robin Hood' is another of my faves - Alan Rickman just makes it, and it has to have the best Marion - beautiful and feisty, just like the rest of us Marion's ..... (I wish) Maz. XX

Maz, Let's hope they "reinvent it" like they did with the Italian Job - I *LOVE* the original and thought it a travesty that they'd remade it, but they've actually done quite a good job of it by just picking out aspects (the fact that it in volves a robbery and of course the mini's) but otherwise produced a completely different film... Otherwise I totally agree with you - the original is great, definitely my favourite "Ealing comedy". Paul

Hi Paul Hmmmm !!! I just think the subtle nuances of genteel English life at that time (the policeman on the beat, the trains, the kitchen tap, the old biddy's gathered for afternoon tea etc) are essential to the plot and I just don't think that 21st century Americans will 'get' it!! That started off posh didn't it!! Also the overall feel of it I don't think can be beaten without rebuilding the London of the time. I always tend to be biased against remakes, just always feel 'if it ain't broke' etc. Very naughty of me not to keep an open mind but there you go .... Maz. XX

Maz, Re: Ladykillers... In one way I agree with you, it could be a disaster (Planet of the Apes ?). On the other hand, it could be OK (Italian Job) or even pretty good (Oceans Eleven). The Tom Hanks factor could redeem it. Paul

Still can't believe I'm the only one to add Arsenic and Old Lace and only one other has put Some Like it Hot - I must be a bit of a wierdo, hubby always says so when I wanna watch an old b/w film ... Am already cringing at the thought of a US remake of the Ladykillers - no, no, no !! Leave it alone please!! I could quite easily add another 3 sets of 8 - forgot Time Bandits, Pretty Woman, Life of Brian, Terminator etc etc Andy are we gonna do books next ?? I've started thinking already ... Maz. XX

Ahhh The Ladykillers, what a funn film that is - absolute classic. Did you know they're doign a remake, with Tom Hanks (let's hope it's not appalling). TY for the ending for Erin whatshername. OH and another fave - Edward Scissorhands...

Erin Brockovitch is my favourite.....no special effects and a true story! Loved Sister Act 1&2, Ghost, The Others and Sixth Sense But my second favourite has to be an oldie called 'Somewhere in Time' (Chris Reeve and Jane Seymour)...anyone heard of it? Aileen

Almost impossible question to answer, as I love films so much, but I'd have to include... in no particular order...
