Hi Andy, how are you diddling?? About the books - I will have to get my 8 first!! Got 6 so far, but have to think hard about the last 2!! With the films I could have had about 50 - still thinking of more at the moment - but generally quite pleased with my 10!! May get hubby to add his, can think of a few that will be on there. Hi Andy, I'm just putting the movies I've seen over and over again with kids and grandkids! Princess Bride Shrek Blues Brothers Oliver Forest Gump Rocky Horror Picture Show and I have to put Sound of Music - husband gave me the DVD at xmas time for a joke cause he hates it but it backfired - the grandkids have it on all the time. My sisters and one of my brothers and I went to a special screening of Sound of Music where everyone going dressed up. Everyone sang along, hissed at the nazis - called out "Maria - the curtains" and so on. One of my sisters was a nun - (there were a few pregnant male nuns) I was Maria - I always had short hair! My other sister and brother dressed in alpine costumes. Others were - jam and bread, packages tied up with string. A crazy night that everyone enjoyed!

Can't list any particular film, just a generalisation... Any film that tells a good story, and tells it well, with good acting, good direction, and good sound. That last bit seems to be forgotten by film-makers nowadays, where most dialogue seems to be merely incoherent mumbling - The Others being a good example (though it was good to see Eric Sykes again)! Many films also fall into the trap of being filled with effects, and forgetting the rest - Independence Day being a good example. Give me the rich films of Bogarte, Star Wars (the full set), Superman (the full set), Lord of the Rings, Harry Potter, The Life of Brian; most of the works of Tom Hanks, Sean Connery, Will Hay, Peter Sellers; and the delightful nonsense of Carry On, Ealing, and James Bond. Oh yes, and the French (apologies to those who may be offended) have made some good films too (the original Nikita, for example). Just get me away from a cop film where one cop is looking forward to retiring tomorrow/next week/next month 'cos sure as eggs, he is going to get killed! Rob
