Thank you so much Fi, It's been really hard for me seeing all the cards and pressies for Mother's Day in the shops this year as Mum died in January. My own three tried really hard to make me feel better- but I must say it has been difficult. I feel so sorry for people who have lost their own children , or Grandchildren and am thinking of them. My daughter is Fi ! Isobel

I read an article in the Daily Mail yesterday about a mother who had lost her only son whilst he was serving his country in the Iraq war. It occurred during the time after the war had officially ended and he was there purely in a peace-keeping role until he, along with a few others were shot by a mob. He was close to his family and had written a loving letter to his parents, which was to be sent to them only in the event of his death. His mother, who wrote the newspaper article, tells of how she misses not being able to receive a card from him on Mother's Day. Fair cuts you to the bone reading the article.

Hello Norah, I was really touched by your message. What a dreadful time for your daughter and perhaps even worse for a grandmother who has to bear the pain for her daughter and the loss of her granddaughter!! God bless you both, Love Kathy xx

Hello Fi How loving and thoughtful of you, Thank you. Our daughter came over to see me this morning with a lovely card and presi, but it is overshadowed by the thought that I still have a loving daughter, but she doesn't, as her daughter died ten months ago very suddenly at the age of 23. So for her, today is one of those days to be got through like her daughter's birthday, Christmas etc. What wouldn't I give to be able to take all her pain on to myself. Norah
