Brian, try working for an IT company then, we have literally hundreds of servers where the clocks will change - most automatically in fairness - but some don't so have to be treated as special cases.. some need applications shutting down during the change... etc etc etc... Nightmare Paul |

Brian, didn't they try in the 60s to leave the clocks alone and it didn't work? Also i live in Scotland and i have been told, that in the winter it gets much lighter, quicker "down south" so if they didn't change the clocks we would be in darkness until 10 or 11 a.m. Please spare a thought for us! Totally agree with the pointless exercise comment. This was a wartime temporary measure: First World War I believe - and we are still doing it decades on! When it started most families had only one clock in the house: no electronic equipment to worry about. Next weekend we will have to make a 40 mile special round trip to mother-in-law's to change her clocks/central heating etc. Bang goes any theoretical environmental saving! Next week it will be colder, darker and more slippery in the mornings. Take care. |
