It has given me the confidence and enthusiasm to start looking into my family tree. It is relief to see that the vast majority of you are all happy supportive people. Hi Teresa, Welcome to GC. Please do not the few put you off this site. The majority are the warmest, helpful and kind people especially to newbies. Weather you are stuck or downhearted you can be sure of advice and usually a laugh. Although we have never met I regard them as my friends and I am sure you will also feel the same way. So do not let the FEW spoil it for you. The MAJORITY are the best as you will find. Best wishes and stay with us. Pat

This is a great place, sometimes happy, sometimes sad, look out for the joke threads, hilirious and one thing you'll soon find there are really helpful people on here, who will go out of their way if they can help you. By the way, what have I missed, looked for the threads you all seem to be talking about and can't find them. M.

please don't tar us all with the same brush, on the whole this site is very user friendly, but everyonce in a while someone will have a gripe and a can of worms wil be opened. This will happen in most places as not everyone sees everything the same way. If we all liked the same things think what a boring world this would be Shelli

Hi Teresa, welcome to GC. Please stay around a while longer because this site is brilliant. I joined a year ago, when I decided to start my family tree. I always say that the people on this site have taught me all that I know about genealogy, most of them have been so helpful. As for the rest of them, just ignore them, they are not worth the trouble! Hi Terasa, just ignore anything you do not like. Please do not be shy in asking any question, no matter how basic, we all had to start somewhere and learn as we went. I am sue that for every question asked there are a number of people whisheing they had asked the same thing but thought it would make thim look silly. Good luck Bob

Teresa - fear not! Welcome to the 'Home for the Confused and Bewildered' Take some time - about a day should do it, to trawl through the boards and you'll soon see what a great bunch of people use this site. Some are complete beginners - I was six months ago, I did'nt even know how to use a computor let alone research Family History. Some folk are very knowledgable and the majority are very helpful. Persevere, ask away but don't forget to say please and most importantly thankyou. Suex

Please do not let the imbicile's put you off... I think they have forgotten what is was like when they first started this or first started to use a computer.... Some of us are really friendly and really helpful.... I promise.

Hi Teresa, Dont worry about those messages, everyone has a bad day! You need only look on the boards, especially the sucess stories and records board to see how helpful people are here, I often ask what i consider people here might think of as a dumb question, only to find there is always a answer from someone trying to help me so ask away :0)) Regards Sheila

Hi teresa. Welcome to GC. Please don't be put off by some people messages - the majority of people on here are very laidback. Pop into the Chat board and have a giggle with everyone - I find it the best form of light relief when I'm having a rubbish day at work. And ask questions - LOTS of them - at some point everyone on here was just starting out and didn't know what to do. The whole point of these boards is that we share advice and information and point everyone in the right direction. And enjoy it.... genealogy is a hobby and therefore meant to be fun ;o) Zoe
