Hi Paul, My daughter wasnt as permature as yours, she was born at 31 weeks and weighed just over 3lb. I had two children before her and she was late with most things. She was just over a year old before she got her first tooth. As for development she eventually caught up.

Hiya, We have a lovely little boy who was born unexpectedly at 26 weeks - 3 months early. He was 2lb when he was born. He's now 20 months and is getting on very well, as far as we can tell. No concerns from us. However. When he had his 18 month checkup with health visitors a couple of months ago, he was referred to the paediatricians as he was "behind". Yes, he's a little behind where we would perhaps expect in some ways (speech, weight etc), but his prematurity has to be taken into account. Everyone seems to understand this except the health visitor who is sticking rigidly to her "ticklist". It's REALLY annoying. Just wondering if anyone has any experience of the expected development of extremely premature babies ? Paul
