I wondered how many of use have old marriage certs etc? im fortunate to be in possesion of my gg granddads wedding certificate, the original creased and musty one! ive also been given my g nans address books with little notes in about birthdays etc, its so lovely to think that even now nearly 50 years after her death such a seemingly insignificant piece of her life is still with us CORRINA RYMAN

I have my grandparents' wedding certificate from the church (St Mark's, Old Street) dated 1892. Unfortunately that's the earliest record I can find of grandma, Hannah Jane Harris, before that day she doesn't seem to have existed. If anyone sees Hannah, PLEASE let me know. Virtual reward offered. LOL

Mum's got a lot of documents from her parents and also my dad's mum's form from when she left school. They are hard to read but my dad scanned them into his computer and sent the copies to me. I don't think I want to be responsible for them at the moment so I am happy with the copies. Mel

We have my husband's great grandparents marriage contract from France from 1854 and the birth certificates of their children, 1858 - 1864. Also photo copies of church documents from Switzerland - 1120. We are lucky we have a family of oack rats as we also have drawings, paintings and lithograhs going back to the early 1700's. It is amazing to see the likenesses of people down the years.

I know they are not documents as such, but they are nice to keep, they are so different ot cards today. I also have old bibles prayer books, driving licenses. and marriage certificates for my great great grandparents. how ever I don't seem to be able to find the birth certificates for them. Jackie

I have several letters, written in 1899, giving a 'good character reference' to my grandfather. They were from the local vicar, an employer and a local landower. (They say he was hardworking and reliable and came from a sober and upright family!!) This was a year before he married and were for an application to become a policeman. He never did join the Constabulary but became a Special, years later.
