Hiya I am just starting out researching my family history. My mother's mum was Czech and her dad was from Ukraine. I dont know the surname of my grandma but my grandad was called Michael Tytarew. They both moved over here to Oldham during WW2. I dont know where to start and any information at all would be extremely helpful. Thanks

Hi Natalie, I have relatives in Eastern and Central Europe. I havn't started seriously searching yet, but I have found some sites that may help: Try CzechGenWeb at http://www.rootsweb(.)com/~czewgw/ It also includes a link to http://www.genealogienetz(.)de/reg/SUD/sudet_en.html (The Sudetenland was part of Czechaslovakia) There is a Ukranian BMD-Exchange at http://iigs.rootsweb(.)com/bdm/ukraine/index.html, with links to CZ too. Not a lot of data there (yet), and, sorry, No 'T's yet ! Do you have any jewish relatives ? If so, then www.jewishgen.org. is the place for searching Central and/or Eastern Europe ! There are all sorts of genealogical projects and associated web-pages here, including cemetry records from Brody, Ukraine Keep an eye on the topic "German searches" aswell. Several GC people are searching in Germany, and some of the web sites there may be useful to you, too Good Hunting ! Bob
