Jan....Google isn't a must need thing....it's a preferance....a program that is installed by the PC user. There is a Google website.....excellent search engine, and the tool bar is a program and I assume we are talking about the tool bar. You could uninstall the Google tool bar....if the problem persists after it's removal and you liked the Google tool bar, it can be reinstalled. Problems like your experiencing is eliminating different things, one thing at a time, until you find the cause. You could copy and paste, word for word, the error message you are getting, into a Google search and see if the cause and solution is found in the search results. Most times when an error message is looked up on the internet you can find a fix for it. Judy

Janet: Part of the reason you may be having problems is that there is a setting in your computer that needs to be changed....those directions to change that are below. The other is the Google Tool Bar you've installed which adds spyware to your computer. Spyware, when left to accumulate on your harddrive, can cause all kinds of problems. The Google tool bar also gives outsiders permission to enter your computer if they wish, which leaves your PC open to security risks..... you gave permission when you installed the program (go back and read the fine print in the user agreement.) In the Google options you can turn off the updater option....which is the avenue taken to access your PC by outsiders. Turning the option off though, still leaves the spyware. Many like the Google tool bar, one should just be aware of the potential risks. Below follow the steps to change the settings that will prevent you from viewing websites....(below has nothing to do with Google.) Judy :-) Fixing “Website Can’t Be Found” and other Site Error Messages More than likely you have trouble with accessing quite a few sites.....particularly getting the message "website can't be found" among a few other error messages. Try the following and it should solve your problem. 1. Go to START. 2. Click on CONTROL PANEL. 3. Click on INTERNET OPTIONS. 4. Change NUMBER OF DAYS TO KEEP IN HISTORY to “0” and click APPLY 5. A box appears with tabs labeled across the top. Click on ADVANCED. 6. Scroll down to the sub-heading SECURITY. 7. Make sure the following has check marks next to it: Use USE SSL 2.0, USE SSL 3.0 and USE TLS 1.0. 8. Also make sure you check off EMPTY TEMPORARY INTERNET FILE WHEN BROWSER IS CLOSED. 9. Click Apply and OK. More than likely USE TLS 1.0 is not checked of and it should be. This will give you the error messages, as well as a few others, that will prevent you from viewing web sites and the error you are getting. Make sure you empty your cookies cache as well as temporary internet files once in a while, too, as this slows down your computer.
