Im having same problem deciding on mine, im getting married in august in a methodist curch. the thing i have found is that although one hymn may sound lovely in a traditional church, it may not in a more modern building, i like fireworks music my self and toccata which is my absolute fave, but doesnt 'work' in modern churches. corrina

Claire, You need to talk to the organist at the church. It's great to listen to lots of music and pick what you want, but I've heard stories of some organists not being able to play what you want eg Widor's Toccata. (Not me though he he!) It doesn't need to be traditional - just memorable. Some churches let you play CDs etc as you walk in/out and during the signing of the register. We had Pachebel's Canon to come into and Arrival of Qof S (and party poppers!!) to go out to. John (piano teacher and occasional wedding/funeral organist)

A favourite hymn at all my families weddings (including mine) is Love Divine (All Loves Excelling). Very nice words and a nice easy tune Pam

I walked in to Clarke's Trumpet Voluntary and out to The Lord of the Dance.

What wonderful ideas,,,!!! Thanks everyone for your help. I had 'The Arrival of the Queen of Sheba' myself and it certainly is difficult to walk slowly,,,i wanted to gallop down the aisle,,especially as I had got the vows out of the way,,,it was a real relief,lol

I came in to the Queen of Sheba and went out to the Trumpet Voluntary which worked really well. Whatever she picks, make sure the bridal party practice walking (slowly) to it as its not as easy as it sounds! By the way, my cousin had the theme from Beauty and the Beast for entering the church which is a traditional tune (apparently), I can't remember its proper title. It has lovely words too but all that most of the congregation could remember was "Beauty and the Beast..." which raised a few smiles! Good luck and I hope all goes well.

My lovely daughter is getting married in june and we are having problems deciding on the music, Walking out of church is sorted,,,she's chosen 'The arrival of the Queen of Sheba' by Handle,,,Its the 'going in' music we cant decide on,,,and what about hymns? Any good ideas anyone?
