Filling the gaps

I would like to fill in all of them. And if I can, get a photo of each one as it is now. Do you think you are allowed to take a photo of somebody else's house without asking them? At the moment I am working backwards and the addresses are mainly after 1911. The other problem is that they are not nearby so I can't nip out and check at the library. Thanks for the tips. I will put them on my "to check list when the children are busy". Abigail

What era are you thinking about? Depending on when, what about Census returns, trade directories, electoral registers, phone books? Filling in the gaps is more satisfying for me too than just pure dates and places.

Can anybody give me any advice on how to find out what an address might have been? One of my relatives moved about a great deal but in the same small area. I would like to find out if the addresses were nursing homes, boarding houses, hotels or whether she "lived in" with her employers. I have lots of dates for my family now but I am beginning to realise that there is so much more to know! It's great! Regards Abigail
