I am walking at Derby nest Sunday, hope the weathers going to be decent, unfortunately I havent done very well as far as sponsorship gpes. I left my sponsor form at work in the hope that someone might decide that they want to sponsor me. I doubt it though, Will probably leave my sponsor form at work till Wednesday and see if I get any for then.

Well done Karen! My hubby is now being supportive, he's seen the light. He's sponsoring me £15 and my friend who's doing it with me £5. So far I've got £165 in sponsorship. Good idea about asking work to match it. I'm going to ask. Naomi

I took part in the Race for life at Hever Castle today, it was brillant, although pretty muddy underfoot. I managed to do the 5km course in just over 52 minutes doing my commuter walk, but I ran over the finish line :-) I've raised so far just over £60 and my employers have agreed to match what ever I raise. Good luck to anyone else who is taking part in the Race for Life this year. Karen

I've managed to raise £35 so far, and hoping my company are going to match what ever I raise, I'm walking it as I'm useless at Running, but as I walk approximately 3 miles a day I'm not doing any specific training for it, both my Mum and my future sister in law are taking part aswell, so were making it a family event :-)

Naomi - if he is so convinced that you can't do it, then he should be quite happy to sponsor you for a HUUUUUGE amount. I will come round and make him pay up if you like!! Just don't tell him that you can walk instead of running! My hubby is just as unsupportive of my family history - just ignore him and do it for yourself! I am going to do the Epping Forest one with 2 or 3 friends. We will try and alternate jogging and walking and hope we don't keel over before the end! Tell your hubby its NOT a race - you are not entering the olympics! - its just a chance to do something worthwhile. Shame its only women or you could challenge him to do it too! Maz. XX

I've registered to run in Kempton Park Racecourse on Sunday 25th July. Enough time to train. Horrible hubby very unsupportive though, thinks I shouldn't do it as not fit or anything. Has really annoyed me.

I'm another one who has had cancer and all the radiation treatments afterwards - 23 in all, but always optimistic, that helps. I think you're doing a wonderful thing walking for charity, although deep down am sad that such institutions should rely on charity. It should not be necessary for such good people as you to give up their spare time. Anyway good luck, Sylvia

Thank you for that Karen. Have had a look and there is a 'race' near me in July. I like the idea that you can walk the 5km if you like! My mum had breast cancer 4 years ago and my friend's dad has had prostate cancer last year, so we may well have a stroll round together! Maz. XX

Hi I've just entered for the Cancer research walk for life which is open to females only (sorry boys!). I have been very fortunate and havent lost anyone to cancer, but I know friends and family that have had cancer and have won the fight. If anyone wants to take part the website is www(.)raceforlife(.)org - remember to take the brackets out. There are walks taking place all over the country. Karen
