Peggy, Jenny isn't the only one. I found some Yorkshire Puddings in the oven, when I switched it on for our evening meal on Tuesday - they had been there since Sunday lunch. They were keeping warm until the veg were all strained. The birds did enjoy them!! Elisabeth xx

Dedrah

Dedrah Report 18 Apr 2004 06:33

hello Peggy, Hope you are feeling a bit better now you have heard some of the messages. It does your heart good to know that so many people do care about each other. I only discovered this message site last night (saturday) and I think its smashing. I live in a village near Chorley in Lancs. The only joke I know is this . What was the last thing that Jesus said to his disciples, before He went on the Cross? "Don't eat my easter eggs I'll be back on Sunday!" Well I thought it was funny and I'm a born again Christian, which means that I have prayed for you and will continue to do so on a regular basis. I also prayed for Norah, that she will continue to be a good friend for many years to come. love Dedrah (pronounced Deedre)

Hubby is a fishmonger and has to whear wellies when he gets to work, so he takes his socks and shoes off and begins working, he thinks a lorry driver that came to pick up a delivery has run off with his new trainers but why did he take the socks? that is the funny part, they must have been desperate to take my husbands socks, they STINK...oh well the thief must have been really hard up to be that desperate.. Take care Peggy I hope this made you smile. Rosie

~~~~~~~THANK YOU, THANK YOU THANK YOU~~~~~~~~~ I really don't know what to say, I am so thrilled with your messages, and have so enjoyed them myself as I have been recording them for Peggy. I do think she will be overwhelmed by your kindness and compassion. I have completed two tapes (1/4 hour each side) and have started on a third as I have also been reading out some of your Favourite Quotations. They will then go in a Jiffy Bag and be posted to Peggy (I use a Label for the Blind) and they always get there on time. Then Peggy can sit back and listen to them. Many many thanks and bless you all Norah xx
Peggy, Jude's story of a woodpecker visiting her garden reminded me of a time when my sons were small. Peter, at about 5, had been given a little carpentry set and loved to saw, nail and generally enjoy himself. We had a birdtable by the lounge window. It was an old tree trunk, not too thick and a homemade top. For several days I was sweeping up sawdust from the patio from numerous little marks on the trunk and finally told Peter to stop sawing it or we would have a disaster. He said it was not him, but I wasn't sure. The next day, the culprit, a woodpecker was happily tapping away at the old, slightly rotten trunk. I had to apologise to my poor son! Love. Elisabeth
Hello Peggy My name is Jude, l am 50 something, younger than Terri!!!! older than Susie!!! l live in Monmouth S Wales,born and bread in West Sussex. Father was in the RAF so born on RAF camp and lived for a few glorious years in Tangmere - got home from school oneday to find he had sold the house and mum was packing!!! Married for 34yrs and have two children aged 27yrs and 29yrs. When we lived in Sussex we lived in a semi,which was over looked by flats, the occupants were very noisy/nosey etc. We now live in a detached house with views l used to dream of. Massive fir trees at the bottom of the garden with all sorts of birds,including a Greater spotted woodpecker,who visits the bird table everyday, we also have Nut hatches,Long tailed tits plus all the usual tits (feathered variety of course), robins etc. We have a dog called Lady and one cat called Jimmy - when l call him l usually call him like a labourer calls his mate!!! J I M M Y - he is so layed back,when he first came to us he jumped up on the sofa,flopped down, relaxed and fell off - bless him!!! We had lunch in a little village called Treleck today, in a pub called The Lion,it has recently won an award for the best food, we're not usually the sort to go out for lunch, but there are so many lovely places around here we can't resist it. Must go as l have to sew some seeds, some of them should have been sewn a few weeks ago - l like all the cottage garden types and all in pinks,purple,blues, whites,lilacs etc - eg Delphinium,Scabious,Sweet Peas,Poppy and Gypsophila - already planted things like Bluebells and bought 9 Geraniums last week - l'm not normally much of a gardener,but being here you just have to!!! Peggy all these messages are going to keep Norah busy for ages - you must be a truely dear friend of hers. Keep your spirits up, we will be thinking of you and Norah reading all these messages to you!!!! Take care. Love Jude & Vic
Peggy, The lawn is cut, though I wasn't wearing my dressing gown. I don't wish to give the wrong impression though - I did have some clothes on! Don't take any notice of Susie - I know where her Auntie lives, the same road as my Auntie. A little while ago we had a thread of quotations from autograph books which was wonderful. There were some lovely rhymes. I don't think I used this one at the time: God made little nigger boys, He made them in the night. He made them in a hurry, And forgot to paint them white. It would not be politically correct these days. I hope I won't offend anyone!!! I remember thinking this very funny when I was little. It was written by my mother's best friend in 1922. Hope you are having a good day and you are enjoying our messages, Love. Elisabeth xx
Hi Peggy I lost my Mum 2 years ago, she was partially sighted and I used to read to her a lot, this one made her smile. There was a flash of lightning and a little girl looked up and smiled. Her mother said "why are you smiling?" The child said "because God is taking my photo!" Thinking of you Julia
Hi Peggy, My name is Terri, quite a young sounding name, but I have to own up I am a golden oldie really. well 63 anyway. I am Welsh originally from Cardiff, but now I live in Telford Shropshire. The street I live in is on a housing estate, where the neighbours are so kind, that when they wash their car they also wash my kitchen windows slopping their dirty soap suds everywhere. Wildlife abounds here. some of the animals have four legs but most have just two. Language is colourful, and text sex is rife. For those who love art there is a regular display put on at the local bus stop. Conscious of the clean air act residents reguarly smash the glass in the phone boxes. to let the pollution out. Should you wish to have your front gate or brick wall removed and return to open style planning. you will often wake up to find your very wish has been anticipated and carried out by the local yobs. Amidst this chaos lies our oasis our garden.! Here order reigns. We can enjoy looking at the ghost koi and watch the developing tadpoles in the pond. A favourite spot of mine is where we have placed a statue of ST Francis, at his feet are little figures of badges, foxes, and rabbits. We have a summer house and my husband Ray who is a Yorkshireman man loves to sit in here and listen to the cricket. If England is doing well , the door is wide open and tea and biscuits are brought out, if they are losing badly the door is shut, and I keep away til the gloom has lifted somewhat. Best wishes Terri xx Please know, that each message you hear,or will perhaps have read to you. The writer of that message has now placed you in a corner of their heart.
Peggy, I thought you would like to know my sparkling clean white dressing gown is now patterned! I put some handcream on, picked up a cup of coffee, cup slipped, enough said. What a shame I only washed it yesterday on that lovely bright windy day. I guess its into the machine again!
Sue
Sue Report 17 Apr 2004 08:53
Hello Peggy My name is Sue (sounds like a song title!) and I live in a village called Langley Vale which is right in the middle of Epsom Downs in Surrey. Our house is about 300 yards from the racecourse where the Derby is run. We can hear the horses galloping during the races when we are sitting in the garden. I have just come back from Asda, I left home at 6.30am because I hate it when it's crowded up there. The shelves were full and no queues at the checkout! I am going to see 3 of my grandchildren soon. I bought them a gingerbread man each in Asda. I know I should make them myself really, but they looked so lovely with Smarties for their eyes and smart waistcoats made of icing! Pink for the girls and blue for the boy! Enough of my ramblings, you take care Peggy and try to keep smiling (it makes people wonder what you've been up to!). Love from Sue at Langley Vale
Peggy, I have just had a brainwave - I could dye my white terry-towelling dressing gown green. Then I could mow the lawn, without getting dressed, as no-one would be able to see me!
