Margaret, The lift is still on. Can you aim for Gosport Ferry Terminal by 12:00? Then we can take the scenic route through Bishop's Waltham instead of haring along the motorway. Jim P.S. Any other lifts wanted? Colin?

THE BISHOP ON THE BRIDGE If you would like a map of Winchester city centre, then please go to:- http://uk.msnusers.com/WINCHESTERGETTOGETHER There you will find Bridge St. and if you have found Bridge Street, then you have found THE BISHOP ON THE BRIDGE. Love to all Norah

Just rang to book a fiche reader, think I'm a bit early really but want to make full use of my day in Winchester as I don't often get to Hampshire Record Office. They have such sensible long opening hours. What a great day it's going to be.

AnninGlos Report 5 May 2004 09:49

Probably not, now that it is on a Friday, I had thought that you would be aiming for the weekend. So, sorry. and with the Hat Fair, whatever the manager of the pub and the tourist burea says, I am sure that you are going to have a parking problem. Still I will be with you in thought. and if there is a remote chance that I can get there I will. I was relying on my daughter driving me so that Tony could go off to golf but, of course, she works so that is no good now. Ann Glos

UPDATE ON TRAVELLING TO WINCHESTER As the meeting is at the Bishop on the Bridge on 2nd July, buses may not go to the bus station, but will MAY stop at the Broadway (by the statue of Alfred). If you park at Chesil street, go out the front, turn right, walk down to the crossing, cross, over the bridge, pub's on your left!!! (Number 42 Chesil Street cream house opposite car park) is older that the Old Rectory Restaurant at the end of the street!) If you can't get into Chesil Street car park, go back to the Park & Ride parks, and get the bus to the Broadway. Those of you coming by train, if you get off at platform 1, go down the steps, turn left, through the tunnel, you're now at the front of the station. If you get off at platform 2 you are already at the front of the station. The bus stop is just down the road, on the left. Catch the number 5 bus (they run every 10 minutes) to the bus station (or it may be the Broadway), or the Park & Ride to the Broadway If they stop at the bus station, go out the front, turn left cross on the crossing and turn left again. You are now by some railings. Follow the railings, past the Almshouses (look up at the top of the drainpipes on this building) and there's your pub! Those of you who get off at the Broadway, you will be by these railings. turn left - same directions as above!! {While you are here, look at St John's house, (the large cream building across the road), upper 'windows', second from the right!} If the bus arrangements change any more drastically than stopping at the Broadway rather than the Bus Station because of the Hat Fair, I'll let you know. See you at the Bishop! Maggie
