My daughter had 1 female cat and then bought a rabbit, both being allowed to run around indoors. However, the rabbit kept mounting the poor old puss, so my daughter gave the rabbit away in the end. She could of course have bought a mate for the rabbit I suppose. It used to be a funny sight to see though.

We had Smudge, who lived in the garden. Had a lovely hay- filled hutch but hardly used it.We've got photos of him in the snow with the furrows he ploughed with his nose. Whenever I went out into the garden in the morning to hang up washing, he would run up and stretch up against me until I bent down to pick him up, greet him and then he'd happily be placed on the ground while I carried on putting up the washing. In summer he'd lick the back of our legs. I was told he probably needed salt so bought a licking block from the pet shop, but it made no difference, he carried on as before. I think he just liked people. He was a real character.

My daughter has 2 grey small lop earerd rabbits - sisters called Midnight and Misty. 2 and a half years old. They have a large hutch inside daughters not used Wendy house. Hutch is open all the time and Wendy house has a wire grill put in doorway for warm sunny days. She has two harnesses and leads and takes them for walks around the garden but usually needs assistance as they always want to go different directions.

Rose, forgot to mention if you have a doe it's worth looking into getting her nuetered as females have atendency to suffer from uterine cancer too. A good website is www.houserabbit(.)co(.)uk

They're for myxamatosis and Viral Haemorraging disease. If you bun lives indoors though they might not need them. Worth cehcking with the vet though. sorry about spellings.

Hi Rose, I never thought of having rabbits as grew up with dogs, but hubby had a rabbit as a kid and when we visited a childrens farm with my neice I fell in love with the baby bunnies so we went to the petshop and got two! They were 2 at the end of January. Salt can't bear to be picked up but Pepper enjoys a cuddle every now and then. Trips to the vets can be a bit of a hassle as they are wise to the carrier and run off. It's amazing how fast they are. Pepper suffers from sticky bottom. In a round about way I'm glad it's her as at least I can catch her, pick her up and hold her for the vet. They both need to go for their booster injections at the moment.

Not to worry Jo. Ours go to bed in their hutch at night. The run is convered completely with chicken wire even over the roof. There's concrete to the front and walls on the other 3 sides. House rabbits are extremely popular and these days it's considered cruel to leave them outside. I think both is fine as long as they get to run around and have some freedom. We did have our indoors the winter before last but it just wasn't practical and the amount of wires that had to be replaced was beyond a joke! I'm glad this winter was fairly mild. Mine are even litter trained. It makes cleaning the hutch a much easier thing to do. Reminds me I need to put them to bed in a minute.

Hi Naomi, I had a pet Rabbit, Bugsey a lion head. He was a wonderful pet. He was a house rabbit but people thought that was cruel so we made him in an enclosed run in the garden. He had a hutch that he could go in at night. Unfortunately one night something was very determined and hungry decided that he was easy prey. I dont want to worry you but you obviously love your rabbits and I wouldnt want anything to happen to them. It was so hard explaining to the children that he had died. I must admit I told a little lie and said that he had escaped. I thought it was easier for them to understand. I hope I dont upset or worry you. Jo

I have two, Salt and Pepper. They are lop eared does. Although they are sisters they have very different personalities. Salt is mad, running and leaping and doing binky's all the time. Pepper sits and sleeps. She looks like a little bear. They have had an enclosed run built in the garden 12' x 8' so they can play out all day safely.
