I have my red rose ready to wear and my Cross of St George flag to clip on my car! Even my 20 year old son went and bought a flag for his car and will be wearing his rose with pride! Happy Birthday to William Shakespeare and also my friend Maureen (who is considerably younger!) Sue

I shall proudly hang out my Flag tomorrow, AND wear my England Rugby Shirt. English to the bone for at least 350 years and I can prove it.

As someone said "Remember son you won the lottery of life, you were born an Englishman" We know we are the best so why shout about it. Surely modesty is an English virtue. playing the game and all that! which means that no offence is meant to other nationalities and I am most embarased for expressing my opinions. Being English, I should, of course, not have typed this so will probably delete it. Bob

I have had my St. Georges Flags for two weeks now, already to hang one on my car and one for my front door. Also have the red rose as well. Also will remember my mother who was born 23rd April 1902. I recall, when at school, being asked if we knew what day it was - I held up my hand and replied "my Mummies birthday - but how did you know"? The teacher nearly choked herself laughing!!! Kathleen

Its my daughter's birthday, so we always have a little party, and we always remember St George and William Shakespeare, When Gaynor was born, my friend, a keen fan of Shakespeare was very excited because she was born on his birthday. I was happy she was born on St Georges Day!

I like the bit from a 'Flanders and Swann' song: 'The English are moral, the English are good, And clever, and modest, and misunderstood!'
