Andy - I have to hold my hands up! I think probably people have over the years tried to get me out more etc but I've found it so difficult that it just became easier to say I'm ok thanks and stayed put. It's strange though over time IF I've actually got to a party or something though I'll be the life and soul - doesn't make much sense? x x x

Di thank you for sharing your experience that also takes courage....The people on here are special aren't they almost better than therapy because you know from what is said that it's real people with real difficulties coming through. The funny thing is that I could NEVER sit in a self help group and discuss this - but on here you can pour things out! x x x

Lorraine, Personally, I feel that the best people to offer advice are those that *have* made mistakes. Just to offer another comparison but ten years ago, my aunt's husband died. He had been in ill health for some time but she threw everything into caring for him. When he died, she herself could have regressed but she put her time into helping out at the church and her friends and family make sure that she keeps busy. Next month she celebrates her 90th birthday and we're having a celebration bash for her. Chin up, Andy

Tracy I can only say that I know how you feel and I know that doesn't help much! I brought up my daughter on my own, she's nearly 20 now. I've been on my own most of my life, I'll be honest I'm a bit of a loner. I don't really like giving advice because I've made so many mistakes but I will say that now my daughter's off doing 'stuff and my parent's have gone - what now? I poured so much into being a good single parent that everything else went by the board and I've found now that I should have taken 'just a bit of time to make a life for myself. Please think about you as well as doing such a good job for everyone else! luv to you x x x

Hi everyone, I packed in my job in Friday, my sons girlfriend was 21 so i organised a party. my son then proposed to her on one knee at the party (Tears). My 20 year old daughter flew to spain saturday to work for a year (tears). The extended family had a bit ofa do too see her off(until 5.30 this morning. There was another party across the road a lot o teenagers. One of them got beat up badly. He was unconcious in the road. I ran out called police and ambulance and stayed with him for 45mins till ambulance arrived. What a weekend eh. I hope he was alright. sarah
