Hi Janet, In answer to your query about Billy Bunter. "Remove" was the class he was in and "owl" I think refers to his round spectacles and was a nickname. The actor who played BB used to own a lovely restaurant near me,he was the chef!! Sue

Sue I used to watch Billy Bunter, but I didn't remember that the name of his class was 'Remove' - but I'll take your word for it! Thanks for the explanation! Janet

Tracey,This quiz is most distracting... it's putting me off my ironing! Re number 22, I keep thinking of Detective shows. I have come up with Shoestring, Kojak, Columbo, Petrochelli (mentioned earlier as a different answer),Maigret, 77 Sunset Strip, Streets of San Fransisco, Perry Mason, Ironside, the Rockford Files, Hawaii 5-0, to mention a few. Perhaps one of us can make sense of one of these in relation to the question. Sue

Tracey, Was there a detective called Sam Spade? This could be the "No Digger" and perhaps refer to a card game. Just a thought! Rosemary(Essex)

Sylvia, You want to see the size of my ironing basket!! That is one job i don't like doing so doing this quiz gives me a good excuse... Rosemary, Sam spade rings a bell. I think he was a private detective played in the film by Humphrey Bogart. I think we've only got to find answers for Q16 and Q24 now, everyone has done really well!

Re: 22 Could the 'ultimate state' be USA - Uncle SAM? Just a thought! Re:24 An anagram of 'rude teen' and the first 2 letters of Danes hammer makes 'thundered'. Trouble is, I can't think of a TV programme that it fits! LOL Sue

Sue, I think the norse god Thor was the hammer of the gods. Does that help with rude teen? I haven't managed to make anything with the letters yet. The only programme I can think of to do with thunder is Thunderbirds. Rosemary(Essex)

Tracey Just thought of three more detective series from way back. There was Lord Peter Whimsey. Also there was "Cluff" set in Yokshire, very gentle apart from the dead bodies in the ginnels! . Then there was Gideon, but I'm not absolutely sure whether the latter was a TV series. Having been brought up in a family addicted to detective novels it may simply be that I remember the book titles. Gideon has dig in it. Rosemary(Essex)

Could the question about orange and black refer to the darts quiz 'Bullseye'? Ann H

Tracey Report 2 May 2004 06:27

Hi Ann, I thought Bullseye was black and red because he used to say "keep out of the black and in the red, there's nothing in this game for two in a bed"!! I can remember that! Rosemary, i still don't think we're sure about Q22 and Q24 are we. Still, everyone's done really well with the others. I think the quiz has to be in for next week so i'll try and get a copy of the answers, put everyone's minds at rest! Meanwhile, lets keep going. Tracey
