I personally don't think there's anything wrong with just chatting on here. There are so many interesting and different people here - brought together by genealogy maybe - but it would be dead boring if that's ALL we talked about. Mommylonglegs - think you're referring to Jo. I can only say that she makes me laugh a lot & I think the boards are a better place because of her contributions ! Rick.

you wont stop all the problems with nasty messeges and threads by making it for paying members only on all the boards they have already tried to do that by making it for paying members only on the other messege boards but as you must have seen the paying members can be just as bad..... i have reported paying members for being abusive several times recently.... and also i dont use GC for reasearch now i just use it for chat....does that make me wrong....? and y ahooo stilll have chat rooms in very regular use

you can also check out the members number by clicking on their name as if you're gonna send them a mail and it appears right at the top right of the address bar Shell xx

Imposters can duplicate your name, but not your Reg Number, so just check that as a matter of course. Place the cursor over the name, and the Reg Number shows up on the bottom tool bar. Mandy you are 1200056

Rach, thanks a lot - I was one of the people who complained to GC on the day that you did, but I never had a confirmation email back from them - maybe they clicked the wrong button and started deleting my messages :) Or maybe I write too much and they're getting deleted to stop other people's boredom :)))))

Mandy Don't give up on GC over this. Us decent people are still here, and will still be here when the hoaxers have long been thrown off or got bored. All we have to do is not fuel their games by responding to them and they'll get fed up, and reporting them promptly to the abuse manager will help too. I'm afraid I've come round to thinking that replies on all message boards should be restricted to those who have paid to subscribe. Its sad but the only way to stop people who want a bit of fun at no expense to themselves, but at the financial and emotial expense of others. This is the first experience I've had on GC of anything like this in the 5 months I've been a member luckily so I hope it will all blow over soon. Angela

Hiya Luv! Dont get worried GC were asked by quite a few people to remove messages from a nadia Mahyar and Rupert Cheese. These people were being horrible to the lovely people who use this site. Like myself a few people responded to these people and that may be why some msgs have been taken off... Take care...Rach...xx

GC it seems has removed the 'persons' messages from site now. Maybe you should report it if your'e having your messages removed. Sheila x

I was just browsing through the boards and noticed that some of my entries have been deleted - presumably by GC because it wasn't by me. Does anyone think that the imposters may be picking out names (of genuine members) and reporting them to GC's abuse manager? It appears that someone took the name of the genuine 'Kylie Smyth' and registered themselves under it, so I suppose anything's possible. If anyone should want to check up on me, I will gladly give my email address. Although I'm new, I have exchanged emails with a few people so I hope you know I'm genuine. A very worried Mandy :(
