Hi All Despite the bad weather forecast, we've had a good weekend away in Devon. Arrived in rain on Friday pm, but weather improved, and yesterday (Sunday) was glorious! Went on a boat trip down the River Dart from Totnes to Dartmouth, crossed the river to Kingswear and picked up the steam train to Paignton, and then open top bus back to Totnes. Took just over 5 hours, and was brilliant! If you are ever in that area, look for the "Round Robin". Cost is £13.50 all in, and worth every penny in my book. Good night all Pauline

Hi Daphne,i am intrigued, what,s well dressing? it seems that a few areas at least did something special yesterday but i noticed nothing up this end of the country at all,is it just us northerners being too dour ,or what?Denis.

Why is it called Bank Holiday? Does nobody else deserve a holiday? Strange idea to call it a bank holiday. Anyway it's our Queen's official birthday today and there have been celebrations in just about every village and town. Lots of orange hats, flags etc. The weather was supposed to be showery, but we've seen no rain all day. I'm so pleased for the children. This is the day of the year, when they put all their "rubbish" on an old blanket and try to sell to you (a bit like a carboot sale). Also I saw different children playing the banjo, flute, violin, even a dance group doing a reel. I'm sure they were of Irish origin. Tonight there will be dancing and I'm sure I'll be woken up by late-night revellers, but I'll just turn over and go to sleep again. After all, it's only once a year.

We hadn't planned anything as the cricket season starts this weekend (I hate it. It b*****s up the whole summer!) But the match has now been cancelled. But hubby needn't think he can sit on his backside all weekend. There's a ton of gravel out the front that needs barrowing round the back. Hope you have a good time. Jeanette

HI All Just wondered if anybody is going away this weekend. We are going to Galmpton (near Brixham) in Devon. No rellie hunting there! Have a good one, whether at home or away. Pauline in Cornwall
