What do you do to keep cheerful when things get you down?

Someone once told me to make a list of all the things that make me feel happy and good - people I love, things I have achieved, things I like doing, holiday memories etc. It sounds really corny but it helps. It is easy to forget how many good things there are in our lives when the chips are down. I have also come to the position that keeping contented is pretty much in my own power. Being contented seems to have nothing to do with what we have, or what ambitions we have achieved, but everything to do with a decision to make the most of what we have got - there is always someone worse off. This all sounds very glib and easy, but it's true. There are people out there who value you very much for the contribution you have made to their lives. I hope this helps - I know everyone who reads this board will be rooting for you. Try reading some of the silly threads too! Nigel

a few things stick on loud music like meatloaf, or wander in the garden to watch the wild life and sometimes get out the photos that always makes me laugh sandra
