HI Jude well I did truy to warn you about Tiscali, I stuck them for at least 10days and then abandoned ship before I committed suicide. BUT tonight I have ordered B/Band from Pipex so I will be leaving AOL in a couple of days. So the speed of BB will I hope make my browsing more enjoyable. So I have got everything crossed for luck. Cheers Ernest xx

Karen - nope still can't see it - it maybe that l can't see the whole of GC window!!! its definately not at top of tisacli window(or is it me???) Daphne - thanks for that, l had just tried to send another email and it told me about the Draft folder, so have just re sent it successfully!! l can still re-activate aol if l want to, the only reason l left was cause l can't get broadband, but l don't think l will now until l get a new puter. When l am more sorted with these servers or what ever l will email you. And that goes to anyone else l owe emails too eg: SHELLI and Ann:o( sorry! Tiscali grrrrrrrrrr (mumble mumble) Jude

Philip Report 7 May 2004 11:11

Hello Jude, I've found it's really pot luck choosing an ISp to get online with. My default is WH Smithnet.co.uk, which was one of the first to offer a 24/7 package about 4 years ago, but they all do nowadays. WHS is pretty OK, although it's changed its own techical support agency (which makes it difficult when something goes wrong, and I need to ring someone for technical advice!). However, I've found that it's useful to be signed on with 2 or 3 other ISPs in case my main ISP server is donw - which can happend quite often! So I'm signed up with Tiscali and Virgin pay-as-you-go in case. Listening to all the broadband users, we peasants in North Devon aren't allowed to have such fancy things, 'cos company profits are spoilt by country hill billies like us. However, BT Digital Access with an ISDN line is just as good, and gives me online access in about 4 seconds flat! Philip

Left Clicking The Little "e" At the very top left of your Internet Explorer browser there's a little icon. It looks like a small "e" on a piece of paper. That's what it looks like to us anyway. Anyway, did you ever wonder what it does? It really doesn't do too many things, but it does have a couple of important functions. And you may find they'll come in handy in certain situations. So, let's explore what the little "e" does! Left clicking the "little e" will give you the option to minimize, maximize, or close the Internet Explorer Window. This might come in handy when you get one of those really annoying pop-up Windows where the tool bar is now showing and there is no apparent way to close the Window. Or you might just think it's a cool way to maximum the Window, minimize the window, or close the window. One thing for sure, you can show your friends this tip and most likely they'll not have even noticed the little "e". Dee X

Hi Dee - can't see an "e" anywhere, even looked round the side!!. Usually you can click on the dash next to maximise and close, but if l want to leave GC l have to leave the nett - oooer Shelli - my new email is up and running, l will email you,but sometimes some emails are sent back!!!! dunno why:o( Bob and Ernest - thank for that:o) Better go,been on here a while now - bet l get timed out!! Jude

Ernest Report 5 May 2004 22:01

Hi Jude; about this timing out. It works a bit like this. Tiscali only have a certain amount of web space to allocate to their members, at any time that web space could be full as a lot of people are on line(Say talking on GC) well I am a member too, and I am late trying to get on line. Well after I have been trying for a considerable time, alittle gremlin tells tiscali, Hey Ernest has been trying for an hour to get in. Then it is OOOP's Jude you have been yakking long enough. Goodnight and you get unplugged so to speak; your timed out. It is highly frustrating when you are pehaps in trhe middle of some important family research about GT Aunty Jude. Never mind it may never happen. LOL Cheers Ernestxx

Bob

Bob Report 5 May 2004 21:26

Jude You need the original installation disc from aol to use the "remove" option on it. That will get rid of most of it. "Add/remove programs" wont do it. Keep a close eye that they don't take more money from you as they have a bad reputation for that. Bob

Sorry to hear about your PC. to be honest I would think that your engineer ishould have given you better advice about that update. Microsoft have now withdrawn support from windows 98 2nd edition so yopu might have trouble with even your update. I went to my local puter shop ( small business) and they built me a new XP to my spec with flat screen lcd 15" monitor for less than £700 and that has got DVD CD burner,7 card reader. and 6 usb2 ports, They also upgraded my old W 98 2nd edit machine which I have passed on to my step daughter and that is now running office XP. This cost was included in the already quoted price, and what is more they did both jobs in less than 8 hours. So shop around and give places like Curry's, Comet, Dixons& Pc World a miss. come up north and I will introduce you to a good PC shop with 1st class service. Cheers Ernest
