What are the chances Maz? If it happens, can we all come and stay at your house for the duration? If Charles becomes king, do you think he will style himself Charles III? I'd prefer George VII.

John, why not be optimistic and put the 2012 East End Olympics on your timeline!!! We are hoping they will come to the Lea Valley and maybe this whole area will be regenerated. Maz. XX

I don't think Elizabeth will give up easily. She knows who comes next to reign. What a thought! When is Charles going to marry this girlfriend of his - granny of his? Let's all hope that William takes over - more sensible, nice looking and until now no womaniser!

I've just looked on royal.gov.uk. They say: The Queen is the fifth longest reigning monarch in British history. The longest reigning monarch is Queen Victoria (63 years and 6 months between 1837 and 1901), followed by King George III (59 years and 3 months between 1760 and 1820); King James VI and I (57 years and 8 months, out of which he ruled Scotland and England together for 22 years between 1567 and 1625); and King Henry III (56 years and 1 month between 1216 and 1272). The Queen has currently been on the throne for 52 years and two months. Around 6 March 2008, The Queen will become the fourth longest reigning monarch. She would need to reign until September 2015 to overtake Queen Victoria. No pinpointed date then!!!

PS as well! I heard this question on a quiz show a few months ago and thought the answer was 15th or 16th Sept. Not sure though!

Thanks. Do you think she'll do it?

Thanks for replying Sandra and Linda. Victoria reigned 20/06 1837 - 22/01 1901: 63+ years. Eliz ascended throne 06/02 1952. I'm just feeling dense with the maths today!

I THINK VICTORIA WAS 60YRS AND QUEEN ELIZABETH CAME TO THE THRONE 1953 ? WHICH WOULD MAKE 2013 HER 60TH IF I'M RIGHT SANDRA

When does Her Maj become this country's longest reigning monarch? It must be about 2015/6. I want to put it into my family's time-line - 2008 Olympics is the most futuristic one at the moment.
