Terri, I had a beautiful border collie called Tia. She was such a good natured and intelligent soul, when I had my first child she used to tell us if he cried when he was in bed and we were in the garden (even though we could hear him anyway) she would run up to us and then dart back towards the house, then stop and look to see if we were coming, if not she would repeat the process until we followed her. She would quite happily let anyone into the house but woe betide them when they tried to leave, thats when the herding instinct came out in her!!! She was 17 and a half when we had to have her put down just over a year ago and I still get choked up. Sue:-) (now nearly in tears)

Hi We used to have a collie - called Nuts - we had him for 13 years, until he had to put to sleep (5 years ago)- his kidneys were not working as they should. Right until the end his mind was active. He loved everyone and was great around children. He loved liking feet - for some reason. He also liked a curry. but hated visiting the vets - we always had trouble visiting the vets - but when he came out the vets he made a fuss of the receptionists. Typical. Liz

Terri That is absolutely wonderful I would be here all day telling you about mine Shep- was the first can't you tell with such an original name, had him for 11 years Sally- she was my baby , she was 8 when she had to be put to sleep due to leukeamia, I had her for 6 months once we knew what was wrong with her , she was so gentle, trusting & loving Tyke-Well nuff said....once a tyke always a tyke !!!!! Misty- Timid , Shy but gentle lady that has just joined our mad house You will know there full life stories after 27 May Count down has begun !!!! Love Jan

I GOT ONE ALONG WITH A LAB CROSS DOBERMAN, FROM A RESCUE CENTRE UNFORTUNATELY BRANDY THE COLLIE WOULDN'T SETTLE IN THE PUB, SO I PHONED THEM AND THEY SAID TO TAKE HIM BACK, A LADY PHONED ME THE NEXT DAY TO SAY HE HAD GONE TO AN ELDERLY LADY, AND THREE WEEKS LATER WAS HAPPY. REMY MY CROSS LAB DOBERMAN WAS FANTASTIC, SO LOYAL, BUT SHE LIKED CHASING RABBITS AND WE WERE PULLED OVER A COUPLE OF TIMES, AS SHE WENT BEFORE COMING OFF THE LEAD. BUT WHAT A DOG, SHE HAD A MAJOR OP AND THE FOLLOWING YEAR A STROKE SHE WAS 6 AND THE DAY BEFORE WE HAD TO DEPART A YOUNG CHILD WAS CRAWLING OVER HER AND PLAYING WHILE SHE LAID UNDER THE TABLE [WE HAD A PUB] TOOK HER TO THE VETS AND HER SCAN HAD SHOWN A BRAIN TUMOUR, SHE MUST HAVE BEEN IN AGONY, BUT NOT A BARK OR GROWL A TRUE WONDERFUL TEMPERMENT. IT TOOK 3 YEARS BEFORE I GOT ANOTHER DOG SHEBA IS A GERMAN SHEPHERD AND HAS SIMILAR FACIAL FEATURES TO REMY, AND SHE IS VERY NOISY BARKS TO WARN ME OF PEOPLE AT THE DOOR AND WHEN THEY WALK PAST, BUT IF I LET SOMEONE IN SHE RUNS AND HIDES. SHE IS SO FUNNY SANDRA

We are our 2nd! 1st one Charlie lived til he was 13. But this one, Jack, is something else! We were his 4th owners, 1st 2 were famers who tried to train him, useless with sheep! then he became a house trasher with the 3rd. He was 14 mths when we got him and he was 10 in Feb and has never touched a thing in our house! He is so obedient, and loyal, not like Charlie! and real handsome, I'm dreading the day he goes.

Terri, That's beautiful! We never owned a Collie. When I was a child we were very lucky as neither of my parents would turn away any animal that "strayed" home with my brother and I. Except on this on occassion when a duck that followed us home from school was know to my Dad. We did have a problem with an "Afgan Hound" that used to pinch the meat off of the dinner plates, so a home was soon found for Sally. Lindy;-)

Hi Terri I once had beautiful Welsh Boarder Collie. She was affectionate, loyal and so intelligent. When we took her out her instinct was always there, she used to run behind us then around us to the front trying to herd us. She used to drop like a stone and creep along the grass. I caught her once in the bedroom with my ex sister in law's sheep skin coat, she had dragged it onto the floor and was running around it in circles, barking. They are as you say a wonderful breed. If you own a Collie then you will know. That they are rather special as Dogs go. Intelligently active, a real live wire. As new feats of agility they acquire. Eager to work, and lead the chase waiting for Master to set the pace. The males are handsome with confident air the ladies gentle and most fair. some herd sheep on a hill but none of them are ever still. They run and dart over ground. till every lamb has been found. not all of them will make the grade. for family pets some were made. whatever school they fall into They will never stint on love for you. So If you are lucky just like me. you will have once owned the Collie.
