Men with beards

Sylvia, It's a common mistake to think that men with beards simply have time/ money on their hands because they don't shave. In fact, we take just as much time giving attnetion to looking neat & tidy, plus the cost of shaver parts etc in my case. Lol! Philip

I had a boyfriend who looked great with a beard, he was a law student at the time. Sometime later he was due to join a firm of Solicitors, and felt he should shave it off, as his student days were over. I couldn't bear to watch, and actually cried a few tears when it went. How sad is that!

I'm a beardy... Stopped shaving 40 years ago because I was fed up having to shave twice a day. Bob

My beard could not possibly make me look any older. There are worse thing than soup in one's beard Egg is much more difficult to remove. Len

Hi Di, Yes. I do like beards on some men. Our prince Bernhard - 92 years of age - grew a beard a few years ago and he certainly looks younger now! I was only joking about the soup etc. You know me by now, or not? The Scottish man I worked for here in the Netherlands also grew a beard, and it suited him. I couldn't think of my husband with one though.

I always wondered if mens' beards got in the way of their food sometimes - soup for instance. Do they wash their beards after a meal, like people clean their teeth after a meal? Fancy a kiss with a beard full of soup - ugh!

I've been trying to persuade my hubby to shave off 'tache for ten years! You're right , Janet, they definately make men look older. To be fair he has 'trimmed and thinned'. ! As for beards, YUKK!!

No disrespect to anyone else - but I really don't like beards or moustaches, and I think men with facial hair look much older than they actually are! But that's just my opinion ....... and I respect everyone's right to have facial hair if they want to!

Naw, Judith, it's a light Nordic number 4 wot does it. Lol! When I get my hair cut, I always ask for a no 4 beard trimmer. Makes me look like a Scandinavian seafarer. Don't have the blond hair, though!

Well now, Sylvia, what's with this beard thing? I've had one pretty well continuously since university days, now in about its fifth edition! Makes me look like my great grandfather, the Rev. George Augustus Pugh of late Victorian times, although I can't match him for clerical dress! When I married the first time, I had shaved my beard off, while my best man still had his. The guests had been told to expect a beard, so were very puzzled to see the bride marrying the best man. Lol! Philip

Well I'm not sure if I should say, because I don't want to upset my lovely 'neighbour' Trish, or Karin ..... but I hate facial hair, especially on men LOL. Afraid I haven't a clue why, just personal taste I suppose. Bit of a funny story coming up ..... made contact for first time last year with my half-brother and we built up the relationship by phone, letter and email before taking the big step of meeting. Early on, we decided to exchange photos and he had fits of laughter when I rang him up quite worried (while the photo was coming to me in the post) to ask if he had a beard :) Well it was funny to us anyway ..... !

It seems to be the fashion nowadays to grow a beard. Even our Dutch prince Bernhard has grown one and suits him fine. Do you girls like men with beards?
