The Today Programme mentioned this morning that they're trying to find the saddest piece of music in any genre. I reckon they're been looking at some of the threads on here!! Anyway, my votes go for "Tears in Heaven" (Eric Clapton) and "Song for Athene" (John Tavener). What do you think? |

Faure's Requiem - quite a favourite of mine. I always play the CD on Sunday morning at breakfast time, sometimes Mozart's Requiem, but prefer Faure. |

I agree with the earlier reply that certain music means different things to different people. Following the death of my friend earlier this week, I won't ever be able to listen to 'Angels' by Robbie Williams again without a tear in my eye. I love anything by John Rutter, some of it is really bright and cheerful, but one I find very moving is 'The Lord Bless Thee and Keep Thee'. |
