i loved Butlins, we went every year when we were kids, we went to Pwhelli, and to Filey,(think we only went there once) every time we came home my nan used to say:if God spares me,i'm going again next year! years later when i was 20-21,i worked there in Phwelli for a few months from may to august, what a great time it was!!! you could do your own thing,no mum asking were have you been, who with, were are you going!!! i met my sons father there,he was a blind date! when i think back now,i must of been blind!!!!!!!!!!! chris.

My Aunty lives in Bognor so always used to stay with her and go to Butlins on a day trip. I remember going to Warners too but I don't know where. "We are Warners wagtails, Happy as can be" Can't remember any more. I went to Butlins Bognor for a long hen weekend a few years ago. Zoe Lucker (Tania Turner from Footballers Wives) was with our group! The entertainment was excellent although the chalets were shabby and damp.

i went there as a child, was born in 1956 so it might have been that year. went to a few butlins/pontins in the 60's minehead, bognor, weston super mare among them. one time had to go home early as i caught chicken pox. also learnt to swim another time at one of the camps. do you remember the competitions like chip off the old block. father and son had to look alike? also there were secret kids clubs i think they were called beaver club or something similar. oh happy days.

As I was born in 1966 I dont remember Butlins in those days. We used to go to Warners Holiday camps when I was between 11 & 16 years old. I have hated Bognor Regis since I was young & we went on a day coach trip. My mum had a migraine & had to borrow a kids bucket to be sick in on the way home--yuk ! However I LOVE Butlins now. In June we are going for 2 weeks to Butlins in Skegness, which is the best of the three. And the biggest with the best beach as well ! Worst Butlins is Minehead. We had a short break there 3 years ago. We along with a lot of people went down with a nasty tummy bug. Got our money back against another holiday. ( we went skeggy ) Apparently in Minehead they had this bug a couple of years on the trot. Was in the papers ! Elaine x

I was at Butlins Bognor Regis in 1963 and got engaged there, mum,dad and brother were there and also a very ill g'ma, who died 1 week later. Went to Pwllheli about 3 times and Minehead once, used to enter the comps there, and won prizes in Holiday Princess and Miss She. After an absence of about 30 years, we went for a long w/end to Butlins Ayr, the experience was enough to put me off for good. and Terri, the best part was the dancing. lol Val

Yes, I remember the Bonny Baby Contest. I entered our youngest in that - didn't win. Entered my other daughter in the Fancy Dress competition as Andy Pandy, again didn't win, but we can't all win, can we?

Hey We were at Butlins (Bognor Regis) 1965, with 2 small children, we thought it was just great & had a wonderful time & like you said you could get them watched & have abit of a break. We are now Grandparents to 8 & live in Australia wish we had something like that here. Our Youngest who is now 37yrs old was in the Beautiful baby Contest, did'nt win but to me was the cutest (Proud Mum) Rita (WA)

We used to stay in Felpham on holiday, right by Butlins, Bognor Regis. I remember it being built. My Mum used to say "Over my dead body would I be seen in one of those places!" She never did go to a holiday camp either! I've been to Butlins, Bognor but only as a day visitor. We went to Pontins at Camber Sands a few times when the kids were small, but now we take the grandchildren to Haven at Hastings. Rory the Tiger, He's my Hero! LOL You have to have been to a Haven holiday camp to know what I mean! Sue

Were you at this holiday camp in 1961? I was, it was a godsend when you have 3 small children under 4. The food was good and the baby was being looked after while we had our meals. There was a baby sitter in the evenings and plenty of activities for the children/parents during the day. Would I go again - not any more, but at the time it was useful.
