right i asked you gc members if there were any 80's bands who bought back some old memories now am going back to the decade when i was born the 1970's any favourites and memories.one of my favourite bands were the boomtown rats ?

Coicidence- just bought a CD today, 'Sounds of the seventies' 1973, my last year of freedom before I married in '74 (pearl anniversary this year!!) Intend to play it full blast on my day off and do the housework to - Slade, Barry Blue, The O'Jays, David Essex, Blue Mink, Barry White, The Sweet, The Drifters to name just a few. Lynn.

Hank Marvin and the Shadows. Great in the 60's, 70's 80's and 90's. Never tire of listening to them.

Oh My........ It's got to be Donny Osmond..... I spent many a night dreaming of him, he was my first crush.......And still is! I'm going to see him in concert in July and can't wait. I love that man!!!!!!! Angie.

I Have to agree with Linda, Its got to be Slade followed closely by T,Rex I had posters of Mark all over my bedroom walls and ceiling then Sweet and Hot Chocolate. Can you remember Hotpants not to mention the shoe's. Sue

Well I was caught up in all the punk/power-pop/reggae scene from 76 onwards and had tremendous fun. The bands/artists I remember or saw most from then would be The Clash, The Au Pairs, The Slits, The Buzzcocks, The Only Ones, Elvis Costello, The Raincoats, The Rezillos and Spizz Energi. And the 70s was THE best era for reggae - Gregory Isaacs, Lee Perry, Big Youth, Burning Spear, Dennis Brown, U-Roy, I-Roy, Dr Alimantado, Augustus Pablo - well I could go on ! Defining moments for me were: London Calling - The Clash Shoplifting - The Slits King Tubby Meets the Rockers Uptown - Augustus Pablo Shot By Both Sides - Magazine Two Sevens Clash - Culture It's Obvious - The Au Pairs Born for a Purpose - Dr Alimantado Like I said, I could go on lol Rick.

being only 15 DAYS old when the 70s began, I wasn't THAT into the music of the early 70s, but have a greater appreciation of it now... Rod Stewart, Fleetwood Mac, Pink Floyd, T Rex, Thin Lizzy, Queen, even Abba... some great bands around.

Sue. If you are still around for a very late reply, yes I remember hot - pants and wore them! home-made, with tights underneath! Platforms (fell off them) minis, midis & maxis with long boots, wore them all. Vest tops some made from string vests! Ben Sherman shirts (my boys think there new!) two-tone suits & shoes (guess who went through the boot-boy stage) then was lucky enough to be pregnant as the smock style started. What the hell did we look like? but at least it was fun, colourful and harmless. Lynn

Yeah - my mum said it would make all my hair fall out - she was right - it has lol ! The only Dancing on the Ceiling I can think of is by Lionel Ritchie and I don't think that's wuite what you meant ! How did it go ? Rick.

All the good ones on there - Congos, Max Romeo, Junior Murvin, Heptones, Gladiators,Upsetters - you name it ! Police & Thieves, Chase the Devil etc Rick.

it was a great era to grow up in though i wish i'd been older in the sixties born 61. donny osmond,david cassidy,david essex,queen, slade, mud,the rubettes, baycity rollers, etc etc saturday morning pictures in the abc club, then when you hit 12 you could go to top rank suite on a saturday morning dancing, this was in Brighton, platform shoes, oxford bags,bell bottom trousers, huge collars and ties, and flat shoes that look like boats, and not forgetting i was 16 in 1978 had my gorgeous daughter and my son 1979. hard times but worth every minute. the other 3 came in the 80's i love reminising. sandra

What a coincidence, I am am just listening to my Very Best of Rod Stewart cd!! Definately one of my favourites of the 70s. One of my favourite Rod songs has to be Maggie May (for obvious reasons!) Maggy

I was also listening to Rod Stewart this afternoon while my son and his friends were running all over the house (his birthday party). I shut the kitchen door and just chilled out. Dont get me started on Bob Marley!! I have just about everything he ever recorded. My only regret is that I never saw him on stage.
